CD 4. Homie!

The cd opens with some gay 1980's motivational keyboard music.

Negative thinking can destroy but if you look at it positively it can also create.

Giving up is the ultimate danger.

The power of positive thinking is a belief that teaches us no matter what the environment to focus on what we do have, how to turn things around; to make things work.

Message of power of negative thinking = focus on what you don't have, on how things arn't what you want them to be.

Belief = Generate a feeling of certainty in the environment when nothing else supports you.

FEAR = focussing on the worst that could happen. Cuts away at your courage, power, decision, ability to move forward.

The greatest way in the world never to achieve your dreams is never to make the first step. Most people have given up on their dreams; not because they don't care but because in their mind they've failed. Extrodinary people settle for mediocre lives, they link pain with trying.

It only takes a little bit of poison to kill someone. Everyday stand guard of your mind and dont let crap fall in from the environment. What we think about daily is what determines how we feel and what actions we take. Each day what we think about is shaping our destiny.

Watch your coffee, watch your mind. Your closest friend could put a drop of poison in your coffee, even by accident and you'd be dead.

If you dont every single day try to put something positive into your mind, something that is going to build and help create a greater quality of life, what will the news/environment around provide? Negativity is constant.

Consequences of being negative? Looking for whats wrong instead of whats right? The consequences are the destruction of your dreams + giving up on everything you could possibly want for your life. So many people have been conditioned to think this way: that dreaming = pain and their future is the same as their past.

We get what we look for. Want to find a problem in yourself? You'll find it! Ask and you shall recieve, seek and you shall find.

Self-fulfilling prophesy = we get what we look for. Look for the bad you'll get more of it, look for the good you'll get more of that too.

Media etc builds us up to look at the negative, not to look to far ahead and to be satisified with the average.

1. See life as it is - don't make it worse than it is or better.
2. See it better than it is - use the power of positive thinking. Develop an image in your mind of how you want things to be, get clear of what your goals are, get real specific. That vision will pull you through in the tough times.
3. Make it like you see it. Take that vision and make it a reality. Make it the way you want it.

1. Decide to develop the habit of focussing on what's right instead of what's wrong. Focus on what you do have rather than what you don't. 7 day challange - no negativity. Focus on solution instead of problems.
2. Instead of judging yourself and others decide (remember these are decisions) to become curious instead of judgemental. Judge less, percieve more, get curious.

Any person that takes glee in watching another persons pain will experience plenty of pain themselves.

Free yourself from the disease of making others wrong and you'll free yourself from the disease of making yourself wrong. You'll have a lot more energy to create solution instead of problem.

To get curious ask :

What do I like about this person?
I wonder whats going on with this person to make them feel this way?
How could I help this person?

3. Decide to find something to appreciate from any negative person or situation and develop the habit of giving compliments.

Remember to ask negative questions like what isn't working? If you are only positive and don't address the things that arn't working you could get yourself in trouble.

Being positive 98% of the time is the solution.

4. Decide not to be perfect. You are a human being. You're going to screw up, don't make it a catastrophe, learn from it and expand froom it. Get better little by little each day.

5. Decide to develop the habit of using faith. Poisitive thinking is the power to believe.

Information x Focus = Personal Reality.

News is a business - what sells more? pain. Bad news sells. News organisations arn't bad or wrong they are only feeding the public with what they respond to. If you and I are walking down the street and we see the headline 'sunshine and happiness ahead' we look at each other, smile and keep walking. But if we see the headline 'storm coming' we buy the paper to read more. If we don't create a plan we only have ourselves to blame.

Rare success' do not just swallow the information that is fed to them, instead they pursue quality information that will nourish their lives. They learn to trust their instincts.

The work crisis in chinese has 2 parts one means danger, the other - opportunity.

People who follow conventional wisdom/the crowd suffer. They continually have to experience the mediocre and have to settle for an average existance, with the unfathomable pain of never touching true purpose or destiny. There is a price for going with the flow = pain of giving up your dreams.

How we evaluate what things mean and what we must do determines who we become and what we create and experience.

2 Paths :

1. Following the crowd which leads to pain, destruction, frustration. Standard education clearly gets a standard result. Thinking like the masses is a great way to make sure you never live your dream.

2. Do things different. Trust your instincts. Go against the general flow.

Social Proof - Most potent use of influencing behaviour cross culturally. When humans are unsure they look to others for how to feel and what to do. If enough people do something it must be right! completely untrue.

So the goal should be to be different! Be yourself - don't be what the crowd want you to be.

If you have a vision, that vision needs to be brought to reality and you're the source. Continually focus on solution and not problem, continually focus on the value you plan on adding versus all the fear and challange surrounding you. What the majority is doing isn't the most efffective.

You'll never know what you're capable of until you commit yourself to becoming more. Can't do this based on environment or social proof can only do it based on imagination.

Do your own research, get more info. Just because everyone is doing something it doesn't make it ok - drugs that deformed babies reference.

The more important your decsion is the more educated you should be - the more info you should have to be able to make concious decisions for yourself. Don't just go with the flow, the price for going with the flow is pain. When people are uncertain they look to someone who is certain but just because someone is certain it doesn't make them right.

Five information challanges :

1. Informaton is worthless without a purpose. RAS.
2. Could be in an information (quality/relevant) deficit. Ignorance is not bliss, what you don't know can hurt you. Find someone who's getting the results you want.
3. Information pollution. Anytime someone is giving you information that has secondary gain (chocolate manufacturer sponsoring study that chocolate reduces cavitys).

(Is there some other information - where can I get more info?

Advice is the cheapest commodity on earth, of you're going to get advice get it from people producing results.)

4. Information overload. What info is relevant to what we want? 1. What is the best source of my info? 2. What info do I need to get a hold of? 3. Whats the timeline for this?

5. Whatever you feed on consistently will shape your life.

Find a role model. Find someone producing results you want. Its never the environment or economy, or potential - you have that! It's down to feeding your mind!

Stand guard at the door of your mind. Take massive action. Trust your instincts. Live your dream.

Ever wanted to change something but not been able to?

What changes do you want to make. Either how you feel or a behaviour?

Everything humans do boils down to avoiding pain and gaining pleasure. Everyone has different strategies for these.

You will have a pattern to end up feeling a certain way i.e feeling overwhelmed. Interrupt the pattern /change your focus - i.e take the most inportant issue and tackle that when feeling overwhelmed - to change how you feel.

Change happens in a moment it doesn't take 10 years. You have to change your neuro associations.

6 master steps to create any form of change:

1. Decide what do you want and whats preventing you from getting it? (most people say what they don't want, give your brain exactly what you want so it's clear).
2. Get leverage. Link more pain to your present behaviour so the change becomes an absolute must. What am I missing out on right now, what have i already missed out on?

Change is not a matter of capability it's merely a matter of motivation.

80% of making a change is having a strong enough why - get enough reasons.

Definition of insanity - doing the same things again and again and trying to get a different result.

3. Interrupt your old pattern whatever it is just for the moment. Do something unexpected when you're stressed and reach for that cigarette, break the pattern. If you are depressed you have to run a certain pattern - shoulders in a certain way, breathing, talking to yourself and that takes a lot of work. If you clasp your hands above your head and say 'thank god my feet don't stink today!' that'll break the pattern, but only for a moment. The more outrageous the pattern interrupt the more effective it will be. Write down a lost of 10 pattern interrupts and pick the top 3.

4. Create an empowering alternative. You smoke because it gave you something - way to relax or whatever. Need a new pattern that will create the same benefits without the negative side effects. Find a role model who doesn't drink / smoke anymore and find out what they do now instead to make themselves feel relaxed, happy etc. Write down your list of empowering alternatives.

5. Condition new pattern until it remains consistant. Will power is not enough. Need to make sure brain always goes to new pattern. Whatever we re inforce will become condition.

6. Test it. Sit down close your eyes and imagine the situation and notice how you react. If you feel the old way you need to change one of the previous steps: either you havent conditioned things enough, empowering alternative isn't strong enough, didn't really break the pattern, don't have enough leverage, not really clear on what you want.

By making this change will my whole life be enhanced or will any area of my life be disturbed. Will it hurt my career or help it? Change anyting you want to, make your life the way you want it. Have fun and enjoy the process.

Change is happening instantaneously, over night, now. You will have more than one employer now, in the past you would have had 1 all your life. You would have gotten a good education in the past and been guaranteed a good job, but not now.

Because of rapid advances in technology and companies trying to compete, outsourcing and downsizing are commonplace aswell as small business start-ups. Your company now needs to change quickly and radically to meet the changing desires, modes and needs of the modern consumer.

You can't be Henry Ford now, a product lifestyle these days could only last six months to a year.

Competition - because of technology we can compete worldwide. There is no scarcity. Companies have to add more value for less money.

Demographics and Psychographics - Who are the main consumers now? WW2 Generation wanted to bring their kids up as having everything they didn't. Now you can have a million choices of ice cream, WW2 generation had 3 choices of ice cream. This generation wants ice cream with their signature on it. This generation is choosey and jaded. Business' cannot operate how they used to, they have to be very flexible.

Business Process Re-Engineering. If you were to totally re-think things, isn't there a more efficeient way of doing things a more enjoyable way of doing things?

Re-Generation -using human ingenuity to transform dormant resources into significant assets.

Everyone has a well of creativity insiude of them but it hasn't been tapped before because it hasn't had to be tapped. Because human beings only tap into their real ability when things are a 'must' not a 'should'.

Re-Generation :

1. Re-invent yourself. Create a new identity. Get a vision of what you want things to be like, make a decision that this is the way it's going to be and communicate with those around you that this is what you're commited to.
2. Re-engineer you're life so you can get the new identity. Changing you're routine so it matches your new lifestyle.
3. Re-assure the people involved. Change is going to be safe, secure and worth it. Get others to work with you - a coach.
4. Re-train so you can get maximum efficiency.
5. Re-vitalise - take immediate action. Never leave the site of setting a goal without doing something towards it's attainment. Notice the wins along the way and re-inforce them.

No one is trapped in a box no one has no choice, except the person who believes it.

CD 6. Last CD.

The ability to consistently anticipate change before it occurs. Anticipation is the ultimate advantage.

We can't live on yesterdays standards and expect to be the winner today. What are the standards of tomorrow and how do we create those standards right now?

Don't get caught up in your own paradigm.

1. Beware the unquestioned conviction. What was impossible yesterday is probable today. When you think there's only one way to do something atleast consider another possibility.
2. Be certain change is coming, then you'll always be anticipating it and won't be reacting to it.
3. Break your pattern of thinking in a linear fashion. Just because things are good/bad today doesn't mean it's going to be the same tomorrow. Think cyclicly.
4. Ask questions no one else has the courage to ask.
5. Become a student of possibility and potentiality.

Diversity is invaluable; easiest way to get it is to read.

Become a student of necessity. What do people see as a necessity rather than a accessory?

Become a student of consequences and inevitibility. If i do 'x' i know 'y' is going to happen. Instead we react - reaction is not where you want to be its the direct opposite of anticipation.

Become a student of pain - Cultural, relationship, business'. If you can find what the pain is or the pain that's coming and get a solution, your futute is assured.

Become a student of value. What others value the value of everything.

A leader is someone who envisions potential problems in advance and solves them.

3 choices :

1. Just wait for things to happen and try to react to them and lose the edge and experience lots of pain.
2. Anticipate changes in trends by noticing whats going on around you, utilise the info to improve the quality of your life.
3. Become a trend creator. Develop or define a vision that inspires you and those around you.

Becoming a paradigm shifter:

1. Get clear on what is your vision
2. Ask questions no one is asking thats how you get new answers. Whats currently impossible in my industry that if it was possible it would change all the rules of the game? Same question in your personal life.
3. If it makes sense then break the rules.

Life rewards those that contribute on a massive scale.
