but if thats the goal, to just feel good, then i imagine he is perfect.

What makes the difference in people's quality of life? Make your desires reality.

It's not what happens but what we do with what happens that gives us the power to shape our lives.

What can we control? Environment no! Internal Yes!

So many of us have ideas but we don't convert them into reality.

Achiever = Not only successfull but fulfilled aswell. Not only contributed to themselves but contributed to those around them and done with passion.

Make a commitment immediately - call someone/put something in your planner. Immediately take action that's how you build momentum!

Who are you? The answer is shaping your destiny.

Beliefs control you behaviour. One of our strongest needs is to make sure our behaviour is consistent with our identity even if it's a negative identity - If you say you are a procrastinator you need to be consistent with that identity you've given yourself. There's a huge difference in doing something stupid and knowing you are stupid. The beliefs we have about who we are - our identity - created the boundaries in how we live our lives. Be careful with the labels you give yourself or others give to you they will begin to define your experience.

Labels define what you are willing to try / not try.

I can show you how to get off drugs but if you identify with being an addict you'll be back on them in 6 months.

Identity = Consistency = Trustworthy = Stable.

The level of thinking that got us to where we are isn't going to get us to where we want to go.Perceive ourselves in a different way not some day - today.

We judge people's identity by their behaviour.

Once you put a label on yourself, your fututre behaviour and therefore the results of your life, will be coloured by it.

POW example + Pygmalion effect. Label.

You get to decide who you are today. Definition you have for yourself is creating the boundaries. What do you have a conviction about in your gut? Leader/follwer Constantly growing/constantly making excuses? etc.

Describe who you are.

Emotions = who you think you are
Metaphors = shape how you think and feel - king of the hill etc.

You are not your past, failures etc. Base it on your future.

Default CD1 Continued. - 16-09-2012, 07:40 AM

Who are you? What is the essence of your life? If we stare at our beliefs we'll immediately start to see the limitations. Write down who you are.

......

Now you know who you are who do you want to be? More gregarious? More outrageous etc. If I was this person how would I speak to myself, act, eat etc. Immediately act like this person. How would you be if you were already living your dream?

If you're identity is 'I'm a fat person' you'll return to that.

Everyone is capable but it's when you take action that's when you make a change.

Your life is defined by your beliefs - your convictions of who you are. Perception of who you are is what needs to change. If you look for something you'll find a reference to back it up.

Write down who you are then immediately start to question the limiting beliefs.

Emotions are the ultimate powe, they are a call to action. How do you deal with yours? Avoidance? If you're always avoiding rejection you'll never succeed, negative emotions are part of life. Endurance? Deny? Dissasociation? it's not that bad! etc. The more you don't listen to your emotions the more intense they become. Use them as competition? let me tell you how bad things are with me! Or :LEARN FROM THEM AND UTILISE THEM!

Love - You feel love when all your criteria/rules are met then you allow yourself to feel that emotion. Only one person controls emotions - you. . It's not our experience but our interpretation of our experience that determines how we feel.

Every emotions serves us aslong as it moves us forward. Negative emotions are a signal that change is needed.

1. Identify the emotion.
2. Acknowledge and appreciate the message it's offering you.
3. Get curious about what its' offering
4. Feel re assured - you've made it through this before!
5. Get certain you can handle anything like it in the future.
6. Take Action and change your life.

We're not just changing how we feel but using how we feel to make life better.

10 categories of emotion.

1. Uncomfortable
2. Fear
3. Hurt
4. Anger
5. Frustration
6. Dissapointment
7. Guilt
8. Inadequacy
9. Overloaded
10. Lonely

All here to give us the message that something needs to change.

Identify the signal - all ten are action signals to re-evaluate the way you're pereceiving something or the way you're proceeding. The way you're communicating or behaving.

These action signals are telling us to make a change so we can get what we really want. They're not negative or bad they are there to serve us.

When identifying the signal what's it most like? i.e rejection isn't on the list but what's it most like?

Change the way we look at things, communicate, behave in a new way not to feel pain.

Change your perception or procedure - way we're communicating / way we're behving.

If you ignore an action signal it doesn't go away it intensifies. You will keep feeling it until you change: your expectations, evaluations, the way you're looking at things, way you're feeling about it, way you're communicating what you need, the way you're behaving.

Respect the emotion, don't make it wrong, it has a message for you - it means you have to change.

1. Uncomfortable? 1. Change your state
2. Clarify what you want
3. Immediately take action in that direction till you reach it.

2. Fear = Get Prepared! You are prepared? change your perception, time to be confident.

3. Hurt - You have an expectation that's not being met. Perception - is there really a loss here? Procedure - Change the way you communicate your expectations.

4. Anger - Important rule has been violated , usually an outgrowth of hurt. Perception - maybe this person wasn't trying to hurt you at all. Procedure - communicate better, change your rules/behaviour. Thes are jsut your standards not everyone is going to follow your rules!

5. Frustration - You need to change your approach to achieve your goal. Be more flexible.

6. Dissapointment - Change your expectations. Get a more appropriate outcome.

7. Guilt - You violated one of your own standards. COmmunicate, apologise, do something so you won't violate it again.

Utilise these messages don't wallow in them!

8. Inadequacy - You need to do something to get better in this subject straight away! Perception - I feel inadequate because I can't play football like Messi. Procedure - Prepare myself by doing something to get better. Get proactive.

Change your inertia, get up and do something!

9. Overwhelmed - Re evaluate what's most important to you in this situation . Whats a necessity vs what's a desire. Write down all the things that are most important for you to accomplish, put them in order of priority, take the first one and do something about it.

Your self esteem grows when you take control of events.

10. Lonely - We need a connection with people. Identify what kind of connection, someone to talk to, listen to, make love to etc. This message means you relally care about people and want to be with them. Take action to immediately fo in the direction you want.

All ten emotions are a message to your brain that things arn't working - you need to change your perception or procedure. Every feeling isn't reality - it's your interpretation as to what things mean. Choose meaning that empower you.

Tony Robbins really needs to learn the art of brevity - this book could be easily be 1/4 the size and convey all the same information. Personally I found it lacking in focus, it seemed like every 5 pages I was presented with yet another way I needed to stop and re-evaluate my whole life and personality.

Hes basically covering much the same material as several self improvement classics such as "The 7 habits of highly effective people" and "The magic of thinking big" and IMO not doing as good a job as the originals.

CD2.

How can we define succes not only to pursue it, but to live it? Success comes through a consistent increase in the quality of your life. Not that you can apply yourself once in a while, its absolute consistency. Consistently excel and expand, mental, relationships, business etc.

Are you truely successful and constantly improving your emotional life? More passion, compassion and courage? Shaping yourself or allowing the environment to shape you? Once in a while or daily? Small changes accumulate to create momentum. Or do you have limiting beliefs - well im getting old etc.

We're either climbing or sliding.

What do we do? We take action.

Increase the quality of our lives daily and enjoy it. The decisions we make that is shaping our actions.

Two things control your decisions which father your actions which are :

Your standards (values)
Your beliefs (sense of certainty)

Tonys single most important chage to turn his life around - he raised his standards. He wrote down all the things he wouldn't settle for. What changed his life was not a single action, it was CANI (Constant And Neverending Improvement).

If your business is failing don't put all your efforts into that and forget about everything else. Things get better by focussing on little improvements daily in each part of your life. If you do this you'll always be happy as you won't be frustrated, frustration is caused when you don't feel like you're growing.

Just to keep what you have you have to be improving - we're climbing or sliding. When every single day you notice that you're improving you begin to develop a sense of strength in yourself that outmatches the people who you meet.

The more you grow the more you'll be able to contribute and the better you'll feel.

You do not want satisfied customers you want loyal customers and the only way they'll be loyal is if what they believe they're getting from you is the highest quality possible. If you're constantly improving they'll stay with you.

Each day do a litle bit more. Don't run before you can crawl. If you're overwight don't go and run ten miles and give up - run a little but and the next day a little bit more.

People fail because they don't set a high enough standard or they set a high standard but don't believe they can achieve it. CANI makes it believeable, i know I can make a way to make it a little bit better. (05 4:30)

If we don't constantly improve we will lose what we have whether it be happiness or our competition in the market place.

Masters are willing to do the same boring thing each day and find a way to improve it.

Three questions to ask yourself at the end of each day:-

1. What did I learn today?
2. What have I improved or contributed?
3. What have I enjoyed?

Questions.

Asking the right questions and doing it conciously and effectively gives you the power to push to anohter level and blow out obstacles. Questions have to power to create more pleasure and success in your life or more pain and limitations than anything else out there.

How can I do this better?
How can I turn this around?
How can I make this work?
Whats really the most important thing of this experience for me to remember and utilise?

Questions like these give you new answers. You want a better answer for your life? ask a better quality question.

When something new happens your brain asks: what does this mean? and, what should I do (to avoid pain and gain pleasure)?

If you ask yourself habitual questions your going to be getting habitual results. I.e why can't i ever break through this? You're setting yourself up so you can't. Whatever you ask for you'll get. Rather ask - How can I make this work? How can I turn this around? Seek and you shall find.

Whatever you focus on thats what you'll get. You want to feel really bad? focus on everything bad in the news. Whats causing this? How can we change this? How can we utilise this to understand human behaviour? to change this trend in our society. These are better questions to get answers rather than just focussing on the prblem itself.

Reality isn't based on what we feel its based on our focus. Focus = Reality. If you want to chang your reality, change your focus. If you want to change your focus, change the question you're asking yourself. Questions are the control tool to focus therefore questions are the control to your own experience of life.

Tony doesn't ask 'Do I have any experience doing this?' Disempowering question. Rather ask 'Who's already getting results who I could model? What can I do right now to emulate them?'

Its not the events that shape your life it's the way you evaluate them. Evaluation is asking questions.

Whatever we ask for we'll get an answer to, whether it's true or not. If you ask what's wrong with my life? If there's nothign wrong you'll still get an answer.

If you ask questions like 'Why me? Why does this always happen to me?' You're totally disempowered. Rather ask ' How can I turn this around?' etc. 09 3:07.
