the gateway drug is bollocks, it was a advertising ploy to stop kids gettin into weed.

the reason people get into heroin is this

my cousin before goin to jail used to sell heroin & crack. i started goin round withhim for a while & met alot of his cutomers.... after a while u realise they are people... and u see a peronality

what happened is i was askin questions about it.. and after a short period it lost its taboo factor. this is when i stopped goin, i realised that drugs are taken because of your peer group.

whether that is weed, coke whatever.

and if your all smokin weed & one says FANCY SOME SMACK!! ur all gonna say FUCK OFF U DICKHEAD

apparently loads of bag heds heads are ex dealers... or ex police who wer undercover.

they give the undercovers beta blockers t stop them gettin hooked on the smack, but theres nothin they can do about the crack. and anyone havin just smack in the community would be seen as suspicious so they have to just hope their will can win.


this is not the case alot of the time & they end up as smackheads. so ye, gateway argument is bollocks... ive seen the inside of tha world.

It depends where your from for it to be the gateway drug. It does round here cos everyone starts out smoking weed & eventually get around to being regular amphetamine users.

I was ridiculously young starting smoking at 8, drinking at 10, speed at 13, pills & coke at 15, & at the hieght of my drug days i was taking between 20/30 E's in a session & up to 7 in one handful. Never got around to taking heroin or crack (thank fuck!) Then a few years ago when drugs were getting shit my mate opened up a couple of legal high shops so we got fucked up for another couple of years.

But i gave it all up at 25 & im turning it right around & starting a career in drug councilling.

I never ran around with heroin or crack users though so there probably is some truth in the peer pressure.

most people are introduced to them through peers and because its 'cool' to use those

I dont really think any of the above drugs are 'gateway' drugs to Heroin - heroin is in a league of its own

Yeah herion is in a league of its own, but amphetamines can seriously fuck you up too. I was addicted to speed, & the psychotic comedowns you can have on it are horrible, i had them for up to 3 weeks at times & during it you feel that the whole world is out to get you & you just want to die. First time i took a pill i was IMMEDIATELY hooked & that was the beginning of (admittedly) a lot of good times. But eventually over the years, instead of getting a buzz, they just give you psychosis. But this also depends how much you take, i took a LOT, so i know why my mental health was at stake & had to quit. If someone only dabbles occasionally, of course the risk is much less.

Its not so much the higher levels of THC in newer breeds of weed which can cause psychosis. One of the other cannabinoids in weed is cannabidiol (CBD) which reduces anxiety caused by THC. These new plants have been bred so that the ratio of THC to CBD is much higher and so much less of the anti-psycotic CBD.

Studies have shown that there is a correlation between those who first start smoking weed as a teenager and an increased risk of psychosis and also those who are predisposed to schizophrenia developing it 3 years earlier than they would have without smoking weed.
