Please excuse my ignorance, but you say PUA's never get laid or am i missreading your post, I thought everyone was on here to learn to pick up women and either get laid or find someone they want to be with .....
I have learned from this situation and will not fall so easiley into such a trap again,

SL - PUA's are those slimy, smarmy, sub-zero cool fake guys who relentlessly use canned lines and routines to creep out girls. They have a delusion that the way they're doing it works the best, and the last thing you should do is be genuine. They're the ones that eat up all the Style and Mystery shit like it's just fact. They're the ones that give the pick up community a bad name.

Phil although I agree this is something that is easier said than done, especially when you're new to this and have a lot of incorrect deep-rooted beliefs and assumptions about girls, relationships and social workings re-enforced by media and general social expectations.

From personal experience it took me a while of reading PUA and self-help books, trying stuff out and just observing, disregarding some of the PUA and self-help stuff I'd read and just trial and error before I nailed it.
