While I agree peacocking should never be used as an excuse not to approach it comes in handy to have interesting accessories as talking points.

For example I opened a girl at the bar on fri, chatted for a minute or so, then she grabs my goth-style necklace and asks me to tell her about it. I take that as an IOI and proceed to put my arm around her and a carried on the interaction. It helped her express interest in me at the end of the day.

Of course this only lasts as long as it takes her to say 'oh I like your t-shirt', etc. It's what YOU say or do that counts. Image/looking cool alone won't get you the girl. I've fallen by the wayside too many times not knowing where to lead a conversation after a girl compliments my tshirt or hair.

girls just wanna have fun

This is all true but it gives her a good starting point if she doesn't know what else to say or is shy, anyone can complement a t-shirt but in doing so they must want some kind of interaction or it'd be pointless saying it

Talking Nice clothes! - 26-08-2009, 05:16 AM

actually that is not a bad idea in getting someone's attention. It's funny but it is the best way to get a lady. To make her smile. Congrats dude!

I tend to wear quite tight fitting deep V-Neck Jumpers with nothing underneath (shows a little chest hair but not to much) and Ive always tended to get a bit more interest this with these items.

My mate opened a set the other night I came in and the attention switched immediatley to the new jumper which went like this..

HB: "your taking a risk wearing that aren't you?
Me: Well if I ever decide to swing the other way then it makes the job a bit easier!
HB: "Laughing" I was talking about the colour, it's baby blue! (I had never even acknowledged the shade of blue my jumper was)
Me: Well it keeps me in touch with my feminine side and helps me reminisce my child hood!
more conversation flowed

Not only did I get her number and she had me find myself from her facebook account so she could add me as a friend, it also gave me some material to go with the night then.

"I need your opinion on something, Ive just been told i'm taking a risk wearing this jumper blah blah"

I tend to go for the more casual look.
This is partly because I am a football casual.
But things include plain polo shirts etc.
But the colours vary from neon orange to a grey and white checkerboard look.
It seems to work well and instantly attracts attention.
Also if I am going on a night out I tend to wear a 'windbreaker' it is simple and effective but it grabs the attention of people around you.

IMO...

Good pair of slim-fit jeans (£50 next)
Decent belt (£15 River Island) (and maybe comical belt buckle)
Tight fitting t-shirt (£10 Jack and Jones)
Thin scarf (£5-10 River Island)
Some cool pumps (£20 next)

is a pretty cool combo and cheap as fcuk to piece together. Some key points are:

-Make sure you don't skimp on the jeans (you can always tell if they're cheap)
-Have a nice, but non-generic t-shirt, shirt or t-shirt-cardigan combination
-Accessorise! Wear a cool medallion or scarf; have a cool bracelet and a watch
-Shoes don't have to be too expensive at all; just make sure they compliment your outfit. I've just bought 3 pair of shoes from next for a total of £56 and they suit all occasions and look great!
-If you wear a shirt, have the top button open and have a cool medallion for people to comment on
-If you're up to it, accessorise your face! Couple of piercings wouldn't hurt (well, they might)

It's fairly easy to get your fashion sorted when you look around shops like river island.

Also remember, don't wear pale jeans with a dark shirt!

There aren't many rules in style that can't be broken if you know how. For example undo your top button, not if you're a mod and they look cool as fuck. Jeans are all about fit, if the fit is right the price is irrelevant. Some of my jeans were £5, some were over £100.

LOL just trying to offer some practical advice you C***!

Only joking mate. Yeah price is irrelevant, but just trying to give some ideas on suitable combos etc as I don't want to be too vague. I'm 21 and mainly go to Next, River Island and Topman, but tbh there's plently of good stuff there and it's all fairly cheap. A guy met up with us the other night and I think his t-shirt cost more than my entire getup and he looked like sh1t lol. I've got a style that I'm now comfortable with, but I reckon it just takes a bit of time to find your own unique style. Once you do it'll be like an epiphany.

No they were free because Jenny bought you them after your drunken escapades!

I started off thinking I had to wear expensive interesting clothing but I started wearing less interesting (slogan tshirts etc) as my confidence grew. I think for newbies it helps because it gives you a boost but once you gain confidence in yourself you don't need it.

Although I would recommend experimenting with different styles etc. Social conditioning means there might have been things you were unwilling to try because of what you thought others would think of you. You might find that some things you just don't like but others that you think "this is me" so keep wearing it because you like it not because of others opinions as long as you feel confident.

Not that much to do with clothing in general but I wore these really nerdy glasses last night and got sooo much attention lol. Proper MM there.

opinions people:

Disco Sound-Activated LED Flashing Black EL T-shirt XL on eBay (end time 29-Sep-09 12:03:05 BST)

T-shirt that flashes when music is playing, like a music equalizer or just any given logo, there is a sound detector in a pocket in the shirt..
