Phil. It's not a reference point or a citation. I'm merely providing the link to the definition of a term I'm using that you or others may not know. Would you prefer I point to a dictionary?
There is a difference between pointing to the meaning of something and pointing to something as a citation of fact. Notice that I never do that. I explain things in further detail so that people may understand the reasoning and facts that support concepts or contradict others.
It's incredibly easy to say "Do this, it's right" but that does not mean anyone will actually do it or agree. You have to fully explain and prove why they should do it over what someone else tells them or what they already do. That inevitably means things become long winded, I'm afraid I can't avoid that. I have however started summarising articles with bullets, on your suggestion. It conveys the key points and holds attention better.
