Default Hi all! - 05-12-2009, 03:18 PM

Hey everybody,

I'm James, 30 years old (though everybody tells me I look much younger) from Wigan and am currently a student just finishing off a Psychology degree. My story: I met a hot girl at the young age of 21, married her, had 3 sons and some 5 months ago the marriage ended when I found out she'd started seeing some other guy behind my back. It was incredibly painful to be screwed over like this but I held myself together, basically kicked her out and now live on my own.

I came across a lot of this PUA stuff only around a month ago when I was looking into improving my social skills, self confidence etc. and have come to realise what a total chode I was. I'm working to put this female repelling behaviour right and am currently watching The Blueprint. I discovered this forum last night and it looks like there is a fantastic, supportive community here.

My big problem is that being in this relationship for 9 years has left me completely isolated socially as I lived only for my family and gradually lost touch with everyone. I just want to go out and have some fun at this point, but the only mates I have left are either married or too self conscious and chode-like to ever set foot inside a pub or club. I was thinking I might even have to start going out on my own (a daunting prospect) but I'm not far from Manchester and it would be totally awesome to hang out with some of you guys if possible.

Once I get my dissertation finished in a couple of weeks, I'd already been thinking of looking into doing some post grad course at Manchester uni next year which I was hoping would also increase my social circle. I'm a total newbie and will probably suck at attracting women, but I'm not afraid to do whatever it takes and am determined to get this stuff handled.

Thanks guys,
James

Welcome to the forum!
I have some friends from wigan and have been down there a couple of times... Tbf they where my ex's friends so I won't be down there for that reason again... :P

Have you read much material? The community will be able to give you some great points in the right direction... I've only been involved just over a month now but I can spend literally all day at work online doing whatever I please so I've got thru my share pretty quickly...

With the whole going it alone thing I ain't advising from experience here but I would suggest joining clubs volunteer work ect... I know its gonna take time and shit that you might struggle to get but you only need one friend then you can quit and that friend can lead to a pretty large social circle...

Hey Dave,
Thanks for the quick response. I've got quite a bit of good material here to get through in ebook, audio and video formats. I have been through quite a lot of stuff already, though advice on the best material to look at is always helpful as I'm pretty new to it all and may have missed something key. I'll be glad when I've finally handed in this dissertation in 2 weeks when I will have the time to be able to concentrate on it all properly. Once that is out the way I'll be making a big push to try to get myself involved in various things.

The voluntary work is a good idea, I had considered doing something like that early next year. Any thoughts on what might be a good area to volunteer in to make some friends? I'm not sure what clubs I should consider joining, I see a lot of advice on martial arts classes (from Carlos Xuma in particular) and maybe even some sort of hip hop dance class (not ballroom ) if they even exist could be fun. Is that the kind of club you meant?

Thanks,
James

Hmm with the clubs its a pretty personal choice... Really I would just go do whatever you're into if you're wanting to find like minded friends... But yeah the examples you have given are fair...

As for material I would say the following are pretty much required to make a educated decision on what type of game you want to use... (I love natural game because I was pretty much a natural when I joined the community I came here to improve upon it...) But the canned stuff can be a good way into it if you're less comfortable with the natural styles, anyway back to the point...

The Game - Best way to be introduced to the community altho I would say the methods are dated

Mystery Method - Both the book and the video achieve you will able to find with google... These are again a bit dated but you can take a lot out of it still... (I use this sort of material more for reference than I practice it...)

RSD Blueprint De-coded - Awesome in depth look at natural game... Its given as advanced material but any newbie will able to pick up loads from this and I certainly wouldn't say that you need much knowledge to jump straight in there...

I would say they make up what everyone should have read after this I would say you should follow whatever you feel drawn to...

Other things that I advise:

RSD - Transformations (This perfect imo it covered everything from start to finish with a fairly natural style... Loved Tims and Ozzies parts inparticual

RSD - Foundations

RSD - Flawless natural Tim... Awesome guy would say he delivers his part better in transformations however...

The power of now - book by Eckhart Tolle, Awesome if you get into the natural side but I wouldn't advise this before you're into the natural aspects specifically as its not really pickup material its just a close topic.

I also watched 'the secret' thought it was shit then after looking into quantum physics and string theory I looked back at it and was shocked at how it could be the case... Very debatable but its certainly worth the time...

Quite a basic list but that's what I would recommend outa what Ive got thru in the month of being here...

Good luck mate hope to hear some good field reports in the future

Hey James,

Welcome to the forum,

I started around three weeks ago now. I was in a long term relationship that ended and my confidence was near enough destroyed. I had read the game a few months ago and never got round to doing anything (its always easier to say to yourself your going to do something than actually doing it!). So for me personally ive found the best way to boost your confidence is to go out and approach. All this week ive just been asking random women in the street where the local cash machine is or if there is a train station near by. This just helps with talking to women. Read my field report to see how I got on today!

I hope this all goes well for you.

Take it easy.

Switch.

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys,
You mentioned a few things I should read/watch there Dave which I didn't know about so that is very helpful, I will check those out for sure. I read your field report Switch, sounds like you're making some good progress there man. I know how tough on confidence the break up of a LTR can be, has happened to me twice and both times were pretty bad. You might not think it amounts to all that much so far, but you must know that most guys are totally unable to talk to girls or strike up conversations during the day (i.e. when not alcohol fuelled) so you're already doing a lot more than most.

That's awesome. If anybody is planning anything soon please do let me know as I'd love to get the chance to go out, meet some new like-minded friends and generally just blow off some steam. I've been devouring a bunch of good material the past few days and am excited to try out some of this stuff, I know I'm gonna make a ton of mistakes but that is all part of the fun to me. Hopefully I'm still kinda fun to be around too, so should provide you guys with plenty of entertainment .
