right, went into town last night and my pick up attempts were working (using the 'who cheats more, guys or girls' opener, but on the two girls I tried in on (the place that we went to was shot to shit with guys) one had a boyfriend who was sending me a handful of IOI's, particularly invasion of personal space and the other was due to get married who gave me very strong eye contact and kept looking at my lips. EITHER way, I'm not interested in getting involved if she is spoken for, don't want to break up a good thing.

In order to pick my self up (not in that way), this afternoon I'm considering to have a sarge round my local park or town, speak to an attractive girl by using the following scenario.

'hey, I'm on my way to the train station to meet 2 of my friends who are engaged to one another, but I'm 5 mins early leaving my house so can i ask your opinion on something.... they are due to get married in 6 months, but they have both confided in me seperately as I'm their best man and have admitted to cheating on one another... what should I do because I have no idea!' (hopefully she will give me advice on trying to talk them into cancelling the wedding)

'thing is, last time they were down, they had a massive argument and actually left Bristol separately, leaving all their clothes and things at mine which was awkward.. and they are supposed to be coming down for the weekend. If they have another arguement, which i suspect they might, would it be ok to take your number just so I don't have to spend what was supposed to be a good night alone?' #close.

To take this a step further, i could even say, 'their train doesn't get in for another hour, fancy a coffee or something?'

What do we all think? It gets a bit choppy toward the end but i think a situation like this is fully fucked up as I'm clearly stuck in-between a rock and a hard place.

Any advice would be grately appreciated!

Sounds so planned that it will come across as really unnatural and creepy. Personally I would just ask for the time, when she gives it, then start talking about how your early for a friend then if you want to use the opener you got you could say "actually you could help me out with something quickly" and use it and change the subject after. If you want to number close your going to have to chat and be yourself for longer than 20 seconds and be direct about it, say you seem pretty cool give me your number and we'll go for a coffee sometime or whatever you want to use. Asking a stranger if you can stay at her house if your friends have an argument is just plain weird.

This seems hugely cocky, have you tried this Phil? I can see that blowing up in my face with a flat out 'no, not really'.

Breaker, I don't plan to stay at her house the same evening, That would be hugely weird... its just so I can have her to meet up with for drinks when my 'friends' get into another arguement that evening.

Stop using this I can't tell you how crap it is, but if your getting results then ignore me, but if you're not you need to ask yourself why? Its also so well known you'll come across as a PU, do you really want the extra hassle?

if this is said with confidence and you make her feel safe within the first 30 seconds, then sure why not, but the way you wrote it tells me it lacks confidence. Sorry mate we're not here to have go, just to help

I'm not taking anything to heart and I'm learning a lot from you guys, so thanks for all the input. I think the park setting is the right place, as it is a route to the train station. That whole story is there so that it displays the trust I've already invested in her which I can see her being flattered by in the first instance.

I can't see myself ever saying 'your cute, i thought I'de come over and introduce myself', this just seems completely mental.

LOL This is my most consistent opener in clubs.

I like the direct approach more, it's so much more natural and honest than all the routine lines which just sound cheesy and contrived.
