Girls who are out with gay guys -
21-07-2010, 07:14 AM
Hi Guys,
On Tuesdays (airport nights), I've noticed that most the HB9-10s are in mixed sets with a bunch of gay guys.
In the past i've tried just going direct in front of them with no success so this time I went indirect but failed to get the opportunity to talk to the HBs.
I opened the group with something along the lines of,
"which celebrity do you thinks more attractive................".
The HBs were sitting down on a stool shielded behind the guys, and one of them was in deep conversation with her other female friend but quickly responded with a answer then turned back talking to her friends again.
I then said something like "You're very quick on the mark with that answer, any particular reason why?"
No response back, maybe she didnt here me, Anyway I continued talking to the guys for 5 mins waiting for a chance to speak to her but eventually left the set as the only people I was talking to were the gay guys.
As soon as I left I then realised I should have said something simple like,
"So who are you out with tonight, introduce me to your cool friends".
Whats the best way to open a mixed set with gay guys and how would you go from talking to the men to talking to the girls?

Yeh, I opened such a set in Opus on Monday. I went really direct, but the gay guy says, hey she's a lesbian...so I AMOGed him a bit. Didn't go down too well.
At the end of the night I saw them at the bus stop. The guy said "why are you always follwing us"...I just was cool, and started a random thread of convo with the gay guy...I won him over...offerd him a fag...so that allowed me into the group. I sat on the bus with them, was able to chat to the gorgeous friend...couldnt do much though.
So with the gay guys, just be cool, friendly and let your intentions show a bit. Its all about respect

Exactly, win the gays over,
Treat the gay guy like you would any other obstacle in a set.
I flirt a little bit, sounds wrong but it works a charm, if he tries to neg me as most gays do, I accuse him of fancying me, joke with him. Well it works for me.
The thing with gay guys is, they see them selves as one of the girls, so treat em like one of the girls, don’t be thrown off by the fact he is a gay guy.
Aim high, achieve great things

Very good point Wake, i'll remember that next time.
sapmi,
Going direct in front of gays is a bad idea as I realised last tuesday from one of my previous posts:
By the way noone has explained tactics from talking to guys to the HB yet.

Well, not necessarily.
I just joined this forum (I'm also gay) and it's funny because I'd be offended if some straight guy hitting on my friends tried to see me as "one of the girls". My PERSONAL recommendation is to treat gay guys the same way you'd treat any guy in a set.
Remember, we're not out to cockblock you and the ones that do get cockblocked are the ones who come in arrogant. I'd actually be more willing to help a guy who says "hey, could you introduce me to one of your lady friends?"...believe it or not

Ok man, im going to try an explain this without offending you, hopefully. but from my experience there a different types of gay guys, there are the normal every day guy, one of the boys, has girlfriends, cool guy,
And there the really eccentric, dramatic over the top gay guys, like the Louie from pineapple Dance studio,
Im referring to the gay guys ive met that act like girls, I have friends like this, I don’t mind it, but I sorry for not clarifying, I don’t judge all gay men on one stereotype.

Oh I'm not offended, I know what you're saying, I just think that when other people read these forums they should at least learn to differentiate between the varying types of personalities they run into.
Some may think "oh, I'll just hit on the gay guy to make him comfortable" but the thing is, people have to remember that gay guys are still guys after all and we focus less on your "game" and more on your physical appearance (EXACTLY the same way straight guys look at women).
So I think your approach should vary depending on the whole slew of factors (which include, among other things, whether YOU'RE a 10/10 or 5/10 or whatever).

'Treat others as you would wish them to treat you' whether gay, straight or whatever. That's my motto.
Although without wishing to generalise too much when I worked for essentially a 'gay' architecture practice in Manchester we were doing quite a few bars and night clubs (as well as converting warehouses into gay porn studios and designing a cock shaped swimming pool for the gay sauna on Hilton Street). Anyway a lot of the guys who run bars and night clubs in Manchester are gay, having met them on many occasions they are extremely arrogant to the point they are absolutely vile people.
If you were gay and or happened to be part of their clique you were accepted, if they knew you were straight like me they would give you a bit of a hard time (no pun intended).
I felt sorry for these people, it was almost as if they enjoyed intimidating people perhaps as payback for once being ridiculed by straight people for being gay.
So in my experience many gay men I have come across in Manchester have been quite arrogant and defensive to the point i'd rather open a set with straight men in it than gay men. But I do have some gay friends who are genuinely nice people.
It was fear of myself that made me odd

Hustler. I wonder if you need to separate the club owner from the gay guy. From my experience club owners have been fairly arrogant. Having said that i've known a few gay guys like that...
girls just wanna have fun
