Well, not necessarily.
I just joined this forum (I'm also gay) and it's funny because I'd be offended if some straight guy hitting on my friends tried to see me as "one of the girls". My PERSONAL recommendation is to treat gay guys the same way you'd treat any guy in a set.
Remember, we're not out to cockblock you and the ones that do get cockblocked are the ones who come in arrogant. I'd actually be more willing to help a guy who says
"hey, could you introduce me to one of your lady friends?"...believe it or not
