I learned immediately that staying where you are is absolutely mental. You would look back in 5 or 10 or 20 years regrettably, if you didn't make the move when you wanted to.

Yeah same, all my peers say they wish they'd done it and they feel trapped ect but I think people are way too comfortable and find excuses.

I've developed a bit of a habit of moving around though and it may come back to bite me when I try to settle down eventually.. I would have stayed in Sydney had it not been for visa issues. Currently looking at open uni to get a degree which will make that more of a possibility, think I read youre doing open uni, how are you finding it? You opt for full or part time?

I've loadsa mates & people who have all the "reasons" not to go too. Although I've been told by some people that I've inspired them to do something with their lives all round, not just by making a move to a new place, but also by always being so determined in everything I do, & always doing what I say I'm gunna do, makes them feel there is always time for big changes. It's true I'm a positive muthafukka & I'm constantly moving forward.

I'm starting an open degree part time. First two modules are introducing the social sciences, & discovering psychology. You can choose to do less or more, it's up to you what you take on board. At the minute I'm going for a psychology degree, & in all truth it's probably gunna stay that way - the point here is that if whatever you choose at the beginning no longer interests you after a year or two, you can change the direction of your studies & head for a degree in a different subject (not sure when the absolute maximum limit is for changing though) also note that you can only do this if you choose to do an open degree, which I advise as its just so flexible, in fact the whole fucking thing in general is really flexible, it's awesome.

Right now I'm just preparing, watching the videos on the site & going through the induction, study map, checklist etc, & making sure that when it officially starts on Feb 2nd, that all I have to do is pick up & begin

I was lucky enough to have gotten my degree out of the way quite early so I've not really got to go back into that unless I want to get my masters, but there is plenty of time for that. I agree with the moving on, I visit my home town every now and then, and you can just see it in the people that are still stuck there that they are miserable ... poor bastards.

After I left school (not that I attended an awful lot) I just partied like a muthafukka & was big into my drugs, I held down a full time job like, but had zero education. Until I started learning again when I was 24, now I'm turning 28 & going for a degree which I would have laughed at 5 years ago.

What's your degree on?

Yeah I'm back in my hometown every other week to see my kid first & foremost, along with seeing family.

But it always makes me smile when I think "i do NOT miss this shithole one bit"

Haha, yeah I had a brief foray into drugs during uni (who doesn't?), I did a BSc (Hons) in Internet and Multimedia Computing, which I pretty much slept through but still did well! Turns out it's one of the few things I'm ridiculously good at.

Yeah family are really important, I tend to only go down for Christmas and to make sure my mum is doing ok, don't have a kid myself but I know what you mean. Typically the second I get there I'm looking forward to getting back!

Cheers mate, I'm absolutely loving it here at the moment, and I'm quite eager to get out there a bit now, I'll be honest about having strolled into the village before now, not that bad a night, but it's not quite my taste!

Yeah I've pretty much spent most of my time round there, it's a bit pricey though, and from time to time a bit pretentious, but still not too shabby.
