I still think prayer can be a cathertic externalization of thoughts and emotions and review of actions for those who might lack the emotional intelligence to do it themselves.

I personally write a journal, I am candid with myself about what I think and feel. Prayer offers that same opportunity to millions so I personally wouldn't rule it as useless.

But as an effective way of talking to god I concede that it is as effective as texting my nan

Unless you have the wealth and social status of someone like Sean Connery, I don't think you'll be gaming with anywhere near the same success rate when you are in your 40s-50s.

Some women and indeed men just seem to have a fixation with a certain demographic, for instance my mother has always gone for middle aged men, 19-49 32-54 (my father). I don't get it, but it happens.
