Title says it all. I've been busy this last month visiting friends across the country on weekends. On one such weekend, visiting a friend for his birthday, a bunch of us including my mate were to crash at his sister's place (big lounge, sleeping bags, pull out sofas etc) after a night out.

It so transpired that my mate's sister and I made out in one part of the large nightclub we were in at one point. I felt uncomfortable continuing the kissing or even holding hands in front of my mate at that time. Keep in mind it was 4am and we were all more than a little tipsy. Didn't want to risk potential out of control emotional outbursts... or be without a place to stay that night.

Back home, could have f-closed her but didn't. Preferred to hit the couch with my friends. Felt like that was the honourable thing to do. Truth be said, I've got a younger sister and I would expect any friend of mine in a similar situation to do what I did.

If things proceed, she will pop around London sometime for a visit or I will visit her with plans "laid out" well in advance.

Anyone had a similar experience?

I think it depends who means more to you your mate or his sister.
you have to chose one or the other cos if it all goes wrong you may lose your mate.

I personally steer clear (when sober) cos I think relationships are complicated enough without added tension.

I'm not into the dating game at the mo so not proceeding with jumping into a relationship anytime soon. Deffo not with a mate's sister. She will know the score well before she gets laid by me, if she does. Situations like these do make life interesting though!

In my case, mates, friends, family all come first. Chicks, well there's always plenty to choose from, and no one chick is THAT important that to f**k her I'd risk anything else (personally)

I finished a photoshoot in London one time, after a massive 15 hour day I arrived back in Oxford about half ten and remembered it was my mates birthday, so phoned him up to say happy birthday but I'm tired and I'll see you soon etc, but got persuaded to go to his, where he was having a house party kind of thing with about 15 close mates there.

Anyway, as the night progressed, I ended up getting on the piano and playing Mad World from Donny Darky, and this girl came along and started singing it as I was playing, I stumbled on the keys when she started though, because I wasn't aware she was behind me, and she took my beer from the top of the piano and started drinking it, and said for every wrong note, she'd drink a little more (bitch), and anyway, played a few other things, she sat down and played a few things as well, and toward the end of the night, everyone was sprawled over various sofas and floors, and I was laid on the biggest sofa with my mates sister with a blanket over us.

The moment the film finished and everyone was bored with tv and started sleeping, the lights went out and me and her were all over each other trying to not cause too much attention ha, we did pretty much everything but sex on that sofa with ten people dotted around the room, including her brother.

The morning after, I got her number, and we agreed to go to this Halloween party one of my mates were throwing, went there got drunk, stumbled back to my house which was empty and fucked like wildfire, everywhere we could for as long as we could.

This happened for a couple of weeks, and we ended up really liking each other, and we were both shit scared of telling her brother (He was 21, I was 17, she was 15), but we both went up to him and said look, we've been messing around and meeting up etc, and we like each other and we wanna get together, but we need your blessing and all that, and he turned round and said "Look, it's not my problem if you guys like each other, I'm neither you nor you (implying me or his sister), so you guys do what you like, I trust you to be with her, and I trust her to make her own mistakes and live her own life, so it's none of my business".

Now, I think that's fair enough, at the end of the day, best mate or not, if there is attraction between two people, it shouldn't matter if it's your best friends sister or not.

He's either realistically thinking, or just doesn't care, and I'm sure it's not the latter.

Me and his sister went on to have a 9 month relationship full of ups and downs, and when we broke up he was just like, that's a shame, move on.

And I did, eventually, onto his girlfriend.
