Default Girlfriends (TV Show) - 15-09-2013, 06:29 AM

Has anyone ever watched this?

A datign show where 3 women meet 100 guys and each women has to pick 6 each to date. They then go on a date and eliminate 1, rthe week after she takes him out, then they meet each others respective friends/family and so on with 1 guy being binned every week.

Admittedly its probably a show for chicks, I normally hate reality TV but for the general topic of pick up and women/social interactions i find it really interesting. The 2nd season has just started. Perhaps stereotypically the guys who are being picked all seem to be good looking - as did the guys in the last season, but I've found it amazing watxching all these guys to see what they are like - so far this season I've seen a naturally confident but tries too hard, a mystery clone, a nervous awkward guy, a nice ass kisser guy, a laid back "whatever" kinda guy and an awkward anxious guy.

Its generally easy to spot within the first 5-10 seconds if the guy will get a date or not when he walks into the room based on his 1st impression and the looks on the girls faces. You get to hear them give more of their thoughts on the guys after they've left etc as well.

I find it pretty interesting - some of the guys unfortunatly remind me of myself at times and its giving me a lot of examples of how NOT to be/act with women. I'm getting a kind of self aware perspective watching all these guys interacting with the women, kinda thinking if i ever begin to act like that I'm hopefully a bvit more aware to straighten it out.

Perhaps not much interest for the regular posters on here who're successful with women but maybe worth a watch to others.

This sounds like the most emasculating girl power piece of shit reality TV I've ever heard of! Worse than that Take Me Out cattle market garbage.

I'l stick to my Steve McQueen movies.

I watched 'The Guard' t'other night. Has to be one of the funniest films I've seen in recent years. Brendan Gleeson is a badass! One of the best displays of an alpha male in cinema if ever I've seen one. Watch that!

Yeah I get what you mean; its kinda like Big Brother or shows like TOWIE and made in Chelsea where things are scripted or people or events are purely selected because they are a bit ourtageous and thats what gets folk watching and the ratings.

I am deffo noticing things in it that i can relate to real life and myself though so I'll keep watching it for that purpose.

I've not seen the show myself and probably won't watch it but here's my thoughts...

When I've tried to watch these shows I get some unpleasant thoughts. It's probably because I am in a womanless, numberless, dateless situation at the moment. I go in my head - make harsh self-judgements, compare myself with others and beat myself up for past failures. I don't want to do that.

Conversely, if I was in a steady relationship or serial dating I might find these shows quite entertaining. Obviously a lot of people do or they wouldn't make them.

I suppose if you can look at them objectively, there's value in that they could give you a peek into personal interactions that normally take place in private. It's a kind of voyeurism.

The difference though is that the people involved know they are being watched and that's bound to affect their behaviour.

Though, as kowalski pointed out, I expect some elements are as they are in real life. Like the initial subconscious judgement the woman makes whether the guy is in her yes, no or a maybe category.

Would be interesting to know what the biggest factor is in that.

I've always assumed it's confidence and looks combined. One can compensate to a degree for a lack of the other.

Looking at it that way, yeah, there's definitely something intangible going on that plays a big part.

What's happening on the inside seems to have a lot to do with it.
