Yes im slowly slowly starting to see that if you chill with the silence, don't panic that its awkward and what to say next or blurt a bunch of crap out quickily etc. It can be your friend, if she then feels the need to reinitiate the conversation with you that shows her interest in keeping talking to you.
I still have to keep up the practice with this area but ive had a few conversations where I felt more comfortable with a lull in talking.
