Alright men, I'm off to Liverpool tonight and was just wondering if any of you have some openers you swear by or just want someone to try out.
I use the obvious ones that I'm pretty sure everyone knows but I'm looking for some new ones.
Just so I'm not all take I will drop 1 of mine, Its daft as fuck but i swear to god you will get a response, its not let me down yet!

(do all your usual body language, psychological and general set game preemptive shit)
And just say "Hey I'v go to find out someone els' opinion on this. Me and my mates got into a heated discussion and... Are the the chuckle brothers actually brothers?''

Its scary that this actually works. 90% of people will stop and actually think about it, the other 10 will just say. Yes or No. What ever its a good conversation starter!

If you're not used to starting conversations with strangers, the more you go out and practice, the better you will get. For example, i just start talking to people, i'm used to it, I don't need openers.

You first need to realise it doesn't matter what you first say, as long as you keep the interaction going as you like, its all good.

However, during the night, you will be going in your head thinking "what do i say?". So, its ok at your level to use openers. You can use anying, for example "hey, you seem quite cool, i had to speak to you, having a good night?"...just have something like that which rolls of the tongue and let the chips fall as they may....then keep the convo going. It takes practice....

One more thing, lower your standards on what you think is cool to say. Have you got mates? Talk to strangers like you would talk to them, well that's the aim anyway. I know it's tough at first, but plow through. Good luck!!!

take their hand, start walking & say...

Its just an opener, a conversation starter and to be honest, its more for his benefit than hers. Not saying your opener is crap in anyway, just an arbitary way of starting a conversation.

i think u missed the point.

it wasnt really the opener, but what it stands for.

one is saying something to start a conversation about somethin random knowing (and hiding) the end goal is to get laid.

the other is starting a conversation where you both know you get laid.



To give you an idea. I sell advertising. Most of our sales reps spend about 8-15 mins with a sales pitch about the product. and don't mention its an advertising call for about 4 mins.

I probably mention its advertising within about 20 seconds. sales pitch inc close is usually about 4-5 mins

that means my call rate is about 3 times anyone else....

i also sell about 4-5 times anyone else (with the exception of 2 whom i double, and our manager who is usually on parr)

the reason?? well i get rid of the shit early on. and people appreciate not being dicked about with a wave of bullshit.

The actual idea of a rehearsed opener really applies to when you are opening to sets of people, i.e. 3 or more I'd say.
Sapmi is right that he needs to find his own style, your appearance and style should be reflected in the first words that come out of your mouth.
Couple of weeks ago an old friend came up and started talking to me, she started small talk as in "So how has life been treating you?", as to which I replied "Fuck off and say something worthy since you havent seen me in 7 years." She laughed and there was instant connection. You gotta find your own style. Now, Sampi is right in saying it will come to you once you get the hang of it but having a few, perhaps dry, rehearsed openers cant hurt either.

For the record, I think the Chuckle Brothers thing is great.

True I did, and as I've said I've only recently started to get in on the game but alas I have mentioned that twice.

Here's an example of a good opener I used not that long ago.
Sitting in a bars smoking area me and 3 other lads had eyed up a 5-set across the way, a boy in-between 2 girls with 2 girls on the other side of the table.
We talked about who would approach, I said I would do it but still didn't know what to open with. It was then one of the lads told me what to open with and honestly, it was genius.

Step 1: I approached and turned my back towards the two attractive girls with their backs to the wall and instead focused my attention on the 2 girls with 1 guy in between them.

Step 2: "Hey there, could I get your opinion on something?" all 5 of them were deeply intrigued already.
" My friend over there," I didn't point directly but instead raised my hand to a general direction, the point here was not the guy but the situation, "he applied for that show Take Me Out, ( a Saturday night dating show I'm sure some of you are familiar with ) well he's got a callback except he's really insecure and now doesn't want to go on, what do you think he should do?"
At this point I've barely glanced at the two attractive targets.
They are delighted to give opinions and start to do so although one of them, as planned, asked "well what guy is it?"

Step 3: I call over to my friend and invite him to the table. At this point I sit down next to the attractive girls whilst my friend sits opposite me. He engages in conversation with one of the lesser-targets whilst the blonde I'm sitting beside opens up to me with some general chit-chat.

This is where I think an opener is needed, sure you could go over and simply approach the girl you're attracted to, and if you can do that without hesitation or needing any sort of line then that's great and right now, I envy that skill, but I'll go back to my previous point of having a few openers ready in your head is fine, nothing wrong with it if its all you have to go on. Hey, it's better than going in and being a fumbling fuck tripping over your own tongue.
