I figured its about time I posted one of these myself to reflect back and hopefully improve next time.

This was a standard student night out with pre-lash and a trip to a trebbles bar before ending up in some sort of a club.

In the trebbles bar is where it started with an opener to 1 of the3 girls sitting near us with the 'jealous girlfriend' opener from the game by neil strauss, a few standard questions + minor negs... By the end we've played the question game where she has to answer with 5 lies and bought me a drink as a result of her loss...

The end result was an exchange of numbers but since then it looks like she's lost interest because when I suggested a 'dvd' date her reply was 'it would be weird because I don't know you'

In our final destination, a loud and very busy club I opened 4 sets. All were opened in the same manner.

1st set
me: HI! what's your name
her: *stare at me and turn around*

2nd set
me: *big smile in her direction* How's your night going?
her: good!
me: *pause a few seconds* what's your name?
her: blah blah
me: *grab her hand and make her spin on the spot*
me: where are your friends?
and at this point her friends took her away...

3rd set
Can't remember much but I'm pretty certain it didn't get far at all.

4th set
Some girl 'accidently' bumped into me a few times while next to us
me: hey! have we met before?
her: no
me: *look at her a few sec before saying anything* what's your name?
her: blah blah
me: *made her spin 1 way on the spot then the other way*
her: *big smile* what's your name *follow by her putting a hand on my shoulder*
me: archie *take her hand gently of the shoulder and step back*
me: say something to my friend then step back to her and from here onwards I don't remember much at all except that I somehow got her to dance away about 2m - 3m away from her friends and then a song later to the opposite side of dance floor.

Here we had a little play :P and I took her hand and guided her outside and asked where we are going... Ended up spending the night in hers to wake up and look at her wall of a picture montage only to find her in 1 of the pictures with 1 of my female flatmates! I had no idea they were friends until this point.


The spin I make them do after meeting them is were I just take their hand above their head and they do a 360 turn. Usually a good ice breaker. Looking back at the 3 sets that rejected me, they were all from behind so I think approaching them from a 45degree angle from front rather than back could be something to improve on and it would be nice to have a larger vocabulary of things to say in a loud place situation.

Don't worry about this mate, just try to see how you could have done it better. She felt she hadn't spent enough time with you for a DVD date (let's be honest, we all know what this really means) so in future, think about being more...how can I put this politely...subtle in your D2s. Still, I wish half the girls who flake on me were this upfront!

Haha! I've had this happen to me a few times, it's a sonofabitch isn't it! Don't take it too personally - maybe it was your fault for going in too high-energy or with an instantaneous hint of neediness or self-doubt, maybe they were miserable bitches who don't deserve the company of one as cool as yourself. Either way don't worry about it. It'll happen again, no matter how good you get. One thing I've learned to do is find the humour in the situation and use this to bounce me into an adjacent set:

"I just said hello to this girl and she completely ignored me. Can you believe that shit?!"

It doesn't even matter if they bite, it's just me vibing with people around me. Balls to anyone who doesn't want my precious time. If they can't take a joke, fuck 'em (as the great Tucker Max would say).

Sounds like you made a decent night of it though. For a kick-off, sounds like you ditched the canned stuff early doors which is always a bonus, and were just cool. You had fun and that's what counts. What happened with the chick whose house you went back to? Anything we should know about?

On the subject of being ignored, i've got a great counter tactic for that. Just say something like:

"omg! I can't believe you're ignoring me after (last night / all we've been through / insert whatever)"

I've always got their attention after that!

yeah it sucks... Rejection doesn't bother me at all because almost always I'll never see them again and if I do, I probably won't remember their face + there's tens, maybe hundreds of other girls under the same roof who are much more fun!

I'll have a go next time... worst case scenario is they'll say 'so what' or 'no' and I'll just move on to someone else who will eventually say YES

Well here's the thing...

At the time I thought she was a high HB7, not quite a HB8. In the morning she looked more like a low 6. I didn't actually remember her name or ask for her number because I wasn't planning on seeing her again after seeing her in the morning. Especially now that my flatmates constantly take the piss about how she told them that after sex I just rolled around and went to sleep.

I'm sure I exchanged a few words... I just don't remember what they are!
