Been having a lot of fun with this and got some awesome results so thought i would share, i haven't used canned openers since i tried the "my cat got laid last night" and got the response "what the fuck are you talking about" but i guess if you open with the same thing more than once it becomes canned?

anyway, when entering a club with your wing go strait to a group standing at the bar, one of you stands to the left and the other stands to the right of the group unaware of eachothers presence face the bar as if waiting to get served, then verbally ring

repeat until you have the groups amused attention then answer

pua1 hey dude what you up too?

pua2 dude I'm at this awesome bar man come down for a drink

pua2 hmmm (looking up and down the hb in the group) theres a cute brunette at the bar but she looks a bit evil....

Hmmm. Bit cheesy mate for my liking.

Bit too much like hard work for my liking! Other openers are shorter and easier to use, and have the same results - ie, wedging you into a set.

Have you tried this out then Frog? It does sound like a lot of work, i.e. would prob need rehersing! I'm sure it would make for an interesting first impression though.

This is the sort of thing you should be doing with your wing on a whim. It's spontaneous and fun, and even better, it's like you're lightly taking the piss out of the group before you meet them. They're more likely to give you some attention and give some 'banter' back. From there you're in.

Stuff that's rehearsed or preconceived would be unlikely to work though. Like SJ said, it's a bit cheesy and is very obviously a pick-up attempt. Maybe if you actually answered the phone to your wing and started to talk about the fit girls it might come off better.

I suppose thinking about it, it could be pretty funny if done confidently. Not sure where you'd take it from there though. Swooping in on a group from both sides just seems a bit too well organised, and pre thought out. Women hate this shit, and if they pick up that you had planned this kind of thing out to pick them up, they'd blow you out so bad you wouldn't be able to look at yourself in the mirror ever again!

i guess in text it does come across creepy and cheesy, though when doing it, its never actualy planned, i never know if he's going to call and visaversa and is pure self amuzment, after answering the phone its all made up.

Funny, I thought of the posedowns when reading this thread and thought about how they were somehow pre-planned like this. But like TorchedFrog says, the key here must be self-amusement. Enjoying it yourself will make it more likely she'll enjoy it.

K spot on! i went out last night after reading the 5 replys to this thread stating that it sounds a bit cheesey, and that was the only thing that came to mind when i did it and got me blown out,
it was no longer a spontaneous self humorist technique but a conscious effort not to make it sound cheesy there fore i was not congruent or in the moment

i wonder if so influenced to social conditioning what the effect would of been if the first five replys said "OMG! i tried this shit last night and it was fucking awesome"
