you could have claimed pre emptive strike as u felt threatened. He basically assaulted you by making you feel threatened. Ur allowed to defend urself.

u just had flight or fright, i trained myself years ago to just punch as soon as im put in that situation, and when they are on the floor, leave them and walk away!
