let's just say it's a necessary evil but I try and lock down as much as possible.

It is a slight annoyance that all these major corporations have so much information about everybody. But hey ho. Theres fuck all you can do about it. And theres no point worrying about shit you can do fuck all about.

Personally I wish facebook went bankrupt tomorrow. It is a poision. I never felt myspace or bebo was poison. But facebook, please die.

(I do love the film "The Social Network" though. )

You think it's a good idea for people to post their date of birth, home address and crap like that on sites like Facebook? You should aim to protect your data and privacy as much as you can.
Am I already inside the data trap? Very likely. Do I want to hand out information as freely as possible? No.

All my personal info, name, address, DOB, what food I like, my common passwords, everything, is likely to be in loads of random data centres all over the world. Who has access to these? Fuck knows. Do I care? Nope. Nothing we can do about it now...

Admittedly you can be sensible and not post your address on FB for EVERYONE ELSE to see. But the major corporations could write your autobiography given the time and resources.

Don't really know what my point of this post is?

I'm sure you can control it a bit more than that on facebook? I lock mine down as much as possible, it is so annoying. Facebook is the mother of all evil.

Google + is bad ass. At the moment I'm loving the search feature. You can use it to create 'special interest streams' (just made that term up) that mix news sources and google + posts into one stream and continually updates live, like the BBC live text football stream.

The search function allows basic logic, so you can search very specifically. E.g. you could create a search for all the stuff Phil will be posting about by typing "hamster AND porn NOT (straight OR alive)".
