Again with the disclaimer that I'm no expert at all:
Personally I see building attraction as communicating or subcommunicating attractive qualities. Theres probably a list of textbook ones out there, but things such as confidence, social savvy, being fun, being a positive person, preselection. But the list could be endless. Basically anything cool about yourself could be considered 'value.'
Regarding how you demonstrate value without seeing stuck up your own arse, that will be down to how you come across, there won't be an exact blueprint for this.
Ignoring the textbook stuff, ultimately if shes not into you physically then you have to give her other reasons to be into you. So you have to convey other attractive qualities somehow.
BTW the old textbook DHV stuff - telling long stories - is a load of bollocks IMHO.
