i only get one free night a week mate at the min. last week went out with mates and they bailed early
decided to fuck it and stay out and have a few beers. next minute see two lads doing silly aproaches generally having a good time. shot the shit with them for a bit and ended up chasing skirt and drinking with them for the rest of the night.

what i'm trying to get across is if id given in and gone home miserable thinking my one nights been wasted i would have missed out on a amazing night.

Firstly for people who think walking around smiling at everyone and making friends with strangers at Uni is the way to go, I completely disagree. It's fine to do but its a short term solution.

Uni has a different dynamic, students have an inner circle and outer circles. Inner circles are the people you start a night with, might live with but at least know very well and are generally formed within first year. Then you have your outer circles which is everyone else you know and see out and about, classmates, workmates, housemates classmates, classmates housemates, society people, randoms, neighbours ect ect. Your inner circle can have a big standing on how much you get laid and how quickly your outer circle develops, get a high status inner circle of social people and your laughing, difficulty is that inner circles are generally small, don't change easily, take periods of specific situational contact to form and the longer they've been formed the harder they are to become a part of. Your problem as far as I can see is you have no inner circle whatsoever and a weak outer circle. My advice would be to join the coolest society/sports club - at my Uni Snowsports is a good one for some reason and religiously go to every event they put on and charm the fuck out of the people who run it and make huge effort to know every person that goes(should be easy if your by yourself). This will stand you in good steed for your time at uni as a strong inner circle to build around and go out with regularly. Then sign up to whatever you can to build your outer circle's, try yoga, volunteer, go to distinguished lectures, take a language, become a course rep, there's tons of shit you can do where you get chatting to people and become more interesting and well known as a result. Do this and you'll be fine.

Much love

Join social networking site such as city socialising ,gets you used to meeting people and dealing with strangers, also try joining a salsa class or dance class of some description, theyre very useful for meeting people in a lower pressure situation than going out "sarging" if your not ready for it! baby steps to becoming good socially, and who knows ,you may love it! also see whats available on campus ie drama groups, book groups etc, hope this helps!
