There is no magic bullet.

Main thing is just to approach with high energy and a smile. You'd be amazed how much more important your state and energy is than the words you say.

Situational openers are best, I reckon, but not always available/easy to use.

You should use more than one opener, definitely. Eventually, someone will notice if you only use one by either over-hearing you ask it over and over again, or you accidentally asking it to the same person more than once on different nights.

It's fair enough having a favourite opener, but you have to use more than one.

It doesn't REALLY matter too much what the opener is. It just needs to be something interesting to the set you're opening.

Whenever I'm in set, and the openers starting to die out, I always rapidly change the subject anyway, and it usually doesn't get mentioned again. The only time the opener really matters is if you roll off after it in the hope that they come up to you later and open you again using your opener as a conversation starter, but shit, in this game, we don't rely on hope.

In a nutshell: High energy, smile, be interesting and ENJOY YOURSELF.

Oh yeah, forgot to say: ROOT your opener. let the set know WHY you're asking; I.E. "me and my mate were just discussing this" or "This is what's happening in a friends life right now" or whatever. You don't want to sound like you're taking a survey.

Also, it doesn't hurt to throw in a false time constraint.

The Good Mood Opener

Hey since I've showed some of you guys already, I thought I'd post it here and hopefully get some feedback.

Ok you approach the set you've deemed worthy.

"Hey guys, let me get your opinion on something.
What do you guys do to put yourself in a good mood?"

They pretty much answer straight away with what ever the hell they do. Most say either go out with friends, drink or music. If one of them says something unique or unusual keep your eye on them thats interesting one.

"Thats interesting, you know I was just having a conversation *point to your wings or another set opened previously* about, you when your feeling a bit down and your just looking for something to make yourself feel good again, what do you really do?"

they talk more blah blah blah...

"To be honest I don't reckon it really does matter exactly what you do, just as long you do something different, like the other day I was at home and I had a free evening, I was just sat around and I thought you what I'm gonna go out tonight and have some fun. I called few of my guy friends and we all went out for some drinks. "

By this point your getting into a DHV routine and should be dropping in some of stuff they mentioned earlier, like going out drinking with friends clubbing and so on.

"We ended up going *whatever place* and it was great, we had an awesome time, I ended up talking to this girl there for most the night and we got on great and all sudden her and friends are inviting me to *some random fun activity I usually say roller disco because its happened to me* It was weird and you know none of that would have happened if I'd just sat around at home, has anything like that ever happened to any of you guys?"

If one them launches into a story then its time to lock in and let them game you for a while.

What do you reckon? I've used it in field many a time and it practically never fails to get the group talking especially in a club.

I posted that ages ago and still think its a great line to say if your starting off.

Knowing I could spout this is probably why I approach so much, I dont have that hesitation of thinking what I should say.

What makes it great is I do want to know what people to feel good. I do like hearing the weird little things people do, although it is rare.
