Zone, I understand what you're trying to say with leaning in. If you lean in to someone, you can invade their personal space and they may feel uncomfortable or intimidated.

However, I think a lot of us feel leaning in allows for a greater sense of intimacy and its just a matter of how and when you do it so it doesn't come off creepy or invasive. A lot of it is confidence.

Exactly. We should not be telling people to be cautious for the sake of not getting blown off and to protect our egos. It does not help those who don't feel worthy enough to escalate.

I believe the theory behind not leaning is to subcommunicate that you are not needy. Thus you become higher value. Plus if she leans in she is working for you, which again = higher value. And some 'gurus' think the harder she works and the more she invests in the interaction (once hooked), the more attracted she'll be.

However, like everything I'm sure it's effectiveness will be situational.

But there's probably no 'one true way' to this stuff. What works for one might not work for another. And there's never going to be any empirical proof that it works anyway.

The fact that you hold so much importance on academic intelligence is not surprising.

While i hold more importance on emotional intelligence, the ability the think rationally, without being to effected and controlled by there psychological motivators, which will limit true mental growth, and corrupt the mind.
