has anybody based themselves on someone who they think is confident, cool and can get any girls they want?

ive been listening to a confidence CD/doing confidence exercises recently and one exercise is imagining someone who u think is confident/cool etc, and then picturing how they stand/talk/act and think of yourself as that person.

i find it a really good exercise but is it changing me into something im not or is it just improving me?

im feeling quite good about myself and my future atm, so id say its improving me but i can easily see how someone can turn themselves into something their not.

I think it's safe to say that the absolute worst thing you can do is to try to be somebody else.

Firstly, attempting to be someone else has the prerequisite that your own self is not good enough, and this is extremely bad thinking. This whole process of self-improvement and self-development is not just learning that, but also understanding why, you are the most awesome person in the world. That whatever you do, whatever your values, whatever your personality, is absolutely fine. From this stems self-esteem and a shedding of the ego, which is pretty much the holy grail of PUA.

Rather than making apologies for being who you are and thus trying to be someone else who you have been told is cooler, accept who you are and be proud of it. You can take the (apparently) least cool characteristics you may have and, by being unashamed that that is your personality, make them cool. For instance, I am a huge car geek. I love every single thing about them, but more than that, I know all the really anoraky stuff as well. 0-60 time for an Enzo? Top speed of a Murcielago? Price of an M3? I'm your man.

Now, I could (and probably should!) be ashamed of this apparent geekiness, but because I'm open and honest and accept that it's part of what makes me me, not only can I accept it, but it induces others to think that I'm cool because of it. It's not just the good stuff that makes you cool (like playing the guitar or being an amazing cook), it's the geeky stuff too. Without it, you wouldn't be the overall awesome package that you are.

It's an oft-used and, if interpreted in the wrong way, disastrous, piece of advice, but be yourself. Don't apologise for who you are.

this is a guy with my personallity, style and i speak like this to, slow and authoritive, i never raise my voice, i did a self hipnoses and used this persons mannerisms, its non other than Hannibal lector, now im not going to eat people but he is an ultimate alpha male, he has all the qualities woman love, hes quitly dangerouse, unpredictable, uncontrolable and mysteriouse.

Here is a guy who could eat you at any minute yet he chooses to stand perfectly still, not moving an inch, he never fidgets and an authoritive, commanding person hardly moves, and when they do move always slow as possible the tinyest action oozes power and grace.

yeh those are kinda my thoughts but i think basing your mannerisms on somebody who's 'cool' is a good thing.

e.g. in 'The Game' before style is mysterys wing he decided to learn the mannerisms of 'cool' actors.

im not saying im trying to become an actor but learning and behaving in certain situation like them is a good idea imo. im looking at it as projecting a positive state i guess.

Yes, but he also tricked girls into liking him by becoming "Style", put people down who he perceived to have a higher social status than him, and dismissed Tyler Durden as a freak. Quite.

You need to understand that it is not an actor's mannerisms that make him cool. It is not his choice of clothes or the style of his hair. Rather, it is the fact that he is a cool mofo that makes all these things cool. Think about Lady Gag-her with all her ridiculous clothes and unwise hairstyle. She is cool and is idolised and worshipped by millions, but is it because she sports a "cool" look?

To answer that question, think about if Ann Widdecombe tried the same thing. Exactly.

If you try and act like someone you're not, you will come across as a complete and utter tool, especially if that someone is a snivelling bell end like Tom Cruise.

When I first got into this I began modelling myself on Al Pacino, but then I realised I was already cooler than him and better looking. Although I have to say in the Tango scene in 'Scent of a women' he beats me hands down, I can't compete with that!
