Default Hair! - 16-05-2014, 01:24 PM

Hi all,

I like to think I have improved my look a fair bit recently, started losing some weight, bought some better shirts and so on.

I'm feeling that one of the last points I really have no clue in is hair.
I grew up listening to a lot of cheesy 80s hair metal, and of course had the standard issue aversion to barbers

I've never been at all keen on putting sticky stuff in my hair (make all the "something about mary" references you like ), but I think I can get over that if it helps me with other aspects of life, so figured I'd chuck a couple of pics up for critique, as all my friends tell me I look fine, but they would!

photo removed, I've got the answers I needed

open to any suggestions, but would rather something not too short ( I also don't think short would suit me too well!), but pretty sure I will be putting some blue streaks in it again (call it peacocking, but I like it blue)

will dig out some more straight on photos later so you can get a better idea

Cheers

care to elaborate?
it's a forum on self improvement, in which it's openly apparent that grooming has some part to play, I'm asking for some pointers, is that a problem?

Okay, fair enough.

1. Blue bits in your hair. Seriously. You are definitely over the age of 18, so look it at least.

2. You look like a grom, get a decent hair cut, figure out your face shape and find something popular out of thehairstyler.com.

3. Get rid of that awful beard, or at least do something modern day with it(or at least less gromlooking).

4. Have a look at this link

Go to a good salon for the first time and talk to the stylists

They'll give you the best advice for a style that suits your needs and your hair colour/type etc.

It might be expensive the first time but it will be worth it.

Ask friends/google for the best places.

It's all well and good finding a hairstyle on the internet you like but you'll never have an emo fringe across your eyes if you're endowed with an Afro
(I had smurf blue hair and the girls loved it)

Thanks, I was fully aware that there was something majorly wrong with it, hence the thread. I'll try to take on board what you've advised....

I'm rather surprised by the blue hair bit, get a lot of compliments on it, same with the beard tbh, although I always assume it's a shit test as I'm fully aware how messy it is.
I hate my chin, so it's probably just my way of hiding it

By Grom, I'm guessing you mean scruffy skater, cutoffs and T shirt, 13-18 sort of image....which is pretty much my background, and something I do need to grow out of.
Worked fine when I was 22 and a student, and I still live in the heart of hippy country, but yes, I think a change is in order.

Exactly what I mean, look cleaner. Askmen did a nice segment on it "dress your age". Google it!

Chill the fuck out, who put you in charge of the fashion police?

The guy seems genuine and came asking for help, no need to be so disrespectful. I notice you keep referencing your own thread like its the Holy Grail of game which is a bit weird, especially when its very average at best too.

Anyway;

Congrats on the positive changes you've already made in your life. If it's style and grooming advice then I'd agree with what Dale said. Go visit a good Barber's or get yourself a stylist, these people are professionals in their industry and will have a better idea of what does and doesn't work for you.

The goatee has go-to go. The shirt look is fine but as K pointed a better fit would service you well. It could do with ironing too. Your hair ain't that bad just could do with some taming, a trim and what not.

In the photo your posture is terrible, keep upright. All in all they are minor easily adjustable attributes, that just look like you haven't kept yourself well for a few weeks. Here's me giving fashion advice hahaha I havent had a haircut in a few months myself.

You're not a bad looking bloke either which is important for chatting up girls. You don't have to be Matthew Broderick but if you're some ugly nerdy shit then a new shirt won't do shit.

Know Thyself.

Have fun.

have read the askmen things for both 20s and 30s (guessing at 28 I should focus on the 30s!)

I'll try to find a decent local salon over the weekend.....and give up my dreams of rocking an awesome 'fro :'(
