i do magic because its something i've always had an interest in and it was something i could incorporate easy into my routines, not because mystery does magic. I only get the deck of cards out once in a group, IF i get them out at all, and kino is kino regardless. what i meant by i am only myself in my head, is that i know how i think and want to act, im only myself when im alone. If your a nice person inside your head but act as a jerk, are you a jerk? thats like saying, if a crazy person acts completely sane but still has crazy thoughts, are they crazy or sane?

I have done it in the past, but only with coins so i don't have to carry cards round. Always seems to go down well. For a laugh as much as much as demonstrating higher value.

How can this not be as a direct result of Mystery. I've never heard Paul Daniels mention routines in order to mix in kino with his card tricks.

It's important not to get defensive about this. You started this thread to see if/what the people on the forum do in the way of magic. The answer you've gotten from just about everyone is that they don't, and that it's at best superfluous and at worst just gay. This is advice from experienced people with a general 'no bullshit' attitude about game. It's worth taking.

The thing is regardless of whether you're trying to be mystery or harry potter or whoever, you're going out of your way to get girls to react. Genuinely high value people don't do that. The idea of literally learning a trick to get a girl to touch you is bizarre.

Your aim should be to chop away at nonsense like that. A dull small talk conversation where you are grounded, comfortable in yourself, comfortable with your sexuality and not seeking approval is infinitely more likely to get you laid than the best magic trick in the world coming from a reaction seeking frame.

Sure you get reactions, but that's all they are. Reactions to a trick designed to get a reaction. That's not a girl liking you, and gives no indication that you'll get somewhere.


No it isn't, people can come in physical contact for dozens of reasons.

If it was, freestyle olympic wrestling would be as gay as it looks.

If you like doing magic as a hobby / interest there's nothing wrong with that but if you're out on the pull it's probably better to leave the deck at home and rely on you being enough, without any gimmicks.

It's better that people tell you these things straight so you can learn and progress quicker.

And this is where we return to what K said. Touching her purely for the joy of it will demonstrate infinitely more value. Using kino tactics to touch a girl just shows how ashamed you are of your sexual desires.

The problem is this:

I dislike that word, as it implies talking to an object rather than an actual human being.

Doing a 'routine' on a girl is always going to end in disappointment somewhere down the line, as it's like wearing a mask.

Lots of good advice here man....shifting from the idea of seeking reaction to being content with yourself is very difficult when you're first starting out.

If you are passionate about magic, it will naturally enter the conversation. And then, rather than seeking a reaction, you are actually 'being yourself'.
