So I have been dating/hooking up with/seeing/whatevering this girl of late and she is really awesome, exactly the kind of girl I'd want to settle down with but it just doesn't feel quite right...

So she is just finishing her docorate but is already well published in her field, she used to be a professional ballet dancer so you get the idea, she is gorgeous and intelligent and we get on really good, but that's all it is; really good but not great.

My old chodey self would have accepted this and probably either ended up in a dull relationship where nobody is fulfilled but I can feel where it would go if I were to follow it.

Seems a shame really as if I were to give her a rating it would be a 10

Yes. I had exactly the same thing with my ex....we were compatible in every way but there was something missing. And, like you are comtemplating, I could have gone down the road of simply settling.

Maybe she is so awesome you are beginning to doubt yourself?

I had a similar thing, everything there, personality, looks, body...but lacked the wow factor, that 'Cant wait to see her'

All I can say, give it a little while longer, if it doesn't come, call it a day, dont get too involved so less heartache!

I've had a similar thing, although to a lesser extent. You've played the field and you have decided what all your boxes are, now you've found a girl that ticks most, if not all of them.

Now this is confusing you, because you should be really happy about it. Like BINGO - got it!

...but you're not. Maybe because your boxes have changed without telling you, or maybe because deep down you know that you'll be bored with this girl later on (hence this thread).

What amazes me is that girls don't seem to pick up on this as well as guys. I'm convinced guys are more picky about who they settle down with - girls tend to override that last checkbox if the others are all good. Anyone else seen this?

That is my exact feelings on this girl and I'd made my decision before I posted, i just wanted to get other peoples' thoughts on similar experiences.

That struck me the most as she is a Psychologist and nearly a doctor...

I think there is a final box that's unquantifiable and either your relationship has it or doesn't, a "je ne sais quoi" as such
