Can't agree with this. Surely confidence is when you know that you may not succeed but you do it anyway regardless, or when you have no reference points yet you still go for it.

I do like how everyone has their own way of feeling what confidence is though, apart from those who wait til someone else says something and then jumps on it and goes yes yes yes

You can also be confident in an area without having any success in it.

So its often less to do with their experience in the area in question, and more to do with that person having a belief in them self, matched by not caring if it all goes to shit.

you can become successful, sure... but once you are successful.. then you will be confident as a matter of course

confindence is a game of dominoes for most guys

1) one thing happens in your life in a particular area which then makes you happy and surprised at yourself

2) the next couple of days you feel good about it and that feeling pushes you into other things that go successful, like youll end up actually talking and approaching other girls without AA and they might go successful

3) the same thing happens untill you have a wealth of good memories that steamroll your conversations or actions,

that is what confidence is to me

Sure good experiences are a great source of building confidence, particularly from a young age. But, I might add it's useful to keep at the forefront of your mind that you can and do learn from your mistakes.

From this valuable knowledge of experience, your confidence can also grow. Of course you have to also learn not to get too butt hurt about your mistakes.
