Default Actors - 04-08-2012, 07:49 PM

When you look at people on TV and films do you ever wonder why we call them actors?

It’s because they do the things we seldom do. We sit and watch them as they act with quiet awe at the things they do. The options they take we rarely accomplish.

It’s the reason I avoid TV. I don’t want to be a spectator of all that life has to offer. It’s so easy to watch, it requires no energy or uncomfortable feelings.

If the price of doing what we want is fear, doubt and uncertainty then that’s the price we play for being an actor not a spectator.

I hear what you're saying and I can't help noticing the extra gaps you've left there between paragraphs. Maybe room for some moving images there? Just a thought.

So, in short, the thread is about getting out there and taking a risk.

Just do it!

Here's some moving images for Chillem:

PS watch the video, crank up the volume, as it's not the usual b*s YouTube video...

Yes I agree about getting out there and taking a risk but not everything in life has to be difficult or risky. It is possible to have a good balance. Of course there is probably a lot of crap TV and films just the same as there is crap music.

We all like music don't we? Music can be art, it can touch us and inspire us. The written word can be inspiration or just simply enjoyable. Ever read a good book? Or read something on an internet forum which you found to be inspirational?

Add some moving images too and it very definitely is possible to create something funny, imaginative and inspirational. All risk free of course. Maybe there is an ideal art:life ratio. It's possible to enjoy watching Family Guy for example and get a look into someone else's imagination. This doesn’t have to mean that we don't enjoy life and take risks.

What was the riskiest thing you did today? Did anyone run up to a pride of lions on the plains of Africa, stick your head into the face of the fiercest and see what happens? That's fucking risky! Hanging out with friends, running lines on hot chicks, enjoying yourself and not giving a fuck is not risky. Not in this age.

Definitely room for watching a good TV programme or film if you are able to recognise that it is not real life and just a brief insight into someone else's imagination whilst at the same time living ones own life and taking your own risks.

Sometimes we really should take a step back and think about if we really are living for the glory, or just letting others do it for us. The viewing figures for tv are very telling.

Well this is just the difference between observing and doing. It's why I don't get why sport is so popular in following. Sure it can be entertaining to watch for some people who can't play it. But if you're able, would you not get more enjoyment from actually doing it?

Actors are appearing to be people they're not, so I would say this is a bad example. If I do something enjoyable, I do it because it makes me feel good - not for other's enjoyment (actors).

Anyone heard the saying you should do at least one thing that scares you each day? I think this is a great mindset for constantly living life!

Having watched the Olympics over the past few days I must say it is most definitely enjoyable to observe sports and take in the atmosphere, tension and emotions.

I think its worth noting in this instance that a lot of inspiration can be drawn from watching these top athletes. They are about as dedicated to the cause as it's possible to get, and can handle an insane amount of pressure and pain to produce the goods. They are an example to us all...

...Team GB! Team GB! (repeat).

A lot of us seem to have taken at least some inspiration from actors and/or those who write the lines for or direct those actors. Yes, including myself

There are quite a lot of avatars of actors or images connected to TV and film
