Duh - First in English language, mate - you're not the only educated one around here. In fact, unless you studied English language in a better University than me, I'm actually more qualified.
Anyway, it's not invalid. What I wrote was the shorter, more well-known version of the full rule, which I would expect you to know. Also, your example doesn't violate my rule. The sounds 'eer' as in "weird" and 'ee' as in "see" have two different phonetic transcriptions - I'm sure you can find them on Wikipedia if you look hard enough.
