Post Tuesday's Report - Building Deep Rapport - 24-03-2010, 11:36 PM

Tuesday night in London: Rebus, Agape and, later on, WhiteFlipper of LSS

Started at Waxy O' Connor's.
We opened a 3 set. Crashed, burned, left.

Short walk to Jewel in Piccadilly.
When I wandered over after being served at the bar, Agape had opened a seated 2 set.
We ended up sitting with them. Agape for blonde, me for brunette.

Deep Rapport

Agape later said he'd sensed blondie didn't seem in the mood enough for him to run the cube. That is, she might not have played along with it.

As for brunette, it was going OK, in that it had potential but was not awesome. After some time hanging out, I tried (with one hand on knee + held eye contact):
"What's the one thing in life you're REALLY into? What's your PASSION?"
This had an awesome effect. It gave her a super-high energy boost, you could see it moved her up a gear. Heard all about what she was really into, yet couldn't spend much time on as had come to London years ago and ended up working in a totally different area. Etc etc. She summarised that she has many different areas of life, in her work vs her degree subject vs her passion -- all different diverse areas.

Cue an unusually easy platform for me to launch some NLP:

Rebus: so you're very OPEN to trying new things!
Brunette: yes yes! open to trying new things!
Rebus: it sounds like you're LOOKING for NEW EXPERIENCES.
Brunette: yes yes
Rebus: (whisper in ear, brushing back her hair) people say you should always FOLLOW YOUR PASSION. It's difficult, but in the end we get there.
Brunette: that's so true

WhiteFlipper showed up. Now 3 guys, 2 ladies. How do we all know each other? Blondie was intrigued when Agape replied "we are in a secret society". Etc etc. We kept schtum. But I was glad that the PUA bit didn't get mentioned as I'm not yet comfortable with that appearing in conversation with a women I want to pick up. (Any times you've used that level of meta-game to effect guys?)

When Agape was number closing blondie, he said "how can we continue this conversation?" which I hoped that the female listeners didn't notice this repetition, as I'd used successfully that identical classic closing line on brunette while Agape was out smoking.

Being A Man

Just after we stood up to leave Jewel, saying the goodbyes, the waitress brought over two large glasses of red wine, a cola and the ladies' bill. The women were shocked. Oh, oh, we only wanted the bill. We didn't want more drinks of the same again round! The waitress was long gone. Blondie and brunette said to us, go ahead, drink all the drinks for free. We don't want them. They're on our bill anyway. You take 'em.

Now before you all go "awesome", some women bought us PUAs some drinks... tables are turned... I didn't see it like that. It was a pretty roundabout route to the drinks. Not nice for them.

I stopped WhiteFlipper from guzzling the cola and I noticed the bill stating that the extra drinks were £20! I walked over to the waitress, explained the situation in a non-threatening way ("there must have been some misunderstanding." x 2), she eventually agreed to speak to her manager, and hey presto a new bill was issued to the ladies for £20 less.

Blondie and brunette were very excited with this. Giggling, happy. "See? You need a man around!" I proclaimed with broad smile and my arm around brunette's waist.

Rest of the Night

Headed off. Street game in Leicester Square with two chicks for a few minutes; neither was fit so continued on.

At Covent Garden, a Cheryl Cole look-a-like (think: big brown eyes) OPENED our group! Except, she was genuinely looking for directions to the opera house. She was the fittest women I'd seen this week. Oh she was genuinely in a rush, due to the opera starting/ending/exploding/whatever. Agape helped with genuine directions and some game --- "so you're singing there then?" --- but she rushed off to meet the rest of Girls Aloud.

At Porterhouse, Agape opened a young 20s 3 set. The Chinese lass I worked on was really pretty -- not many Chinese girls you get with freckles & mega-watt smiles -- but she's in London to study English. Well keep studying honey, as your English is fairly shit. Couldn't move beyond talking about the venue, and our national stereotypes / country-based chat, as her English was too poor. Could have done some kino game but it's hard work with someone who has only basic English. Plus I ran kino game, cocky-funny and a bit of rapport building on a HB9 Chinese chick 3 weeks ago who was only a marginally better English speaker, got her number and then the whole thing died! Ah so... left.

On the way home, the three of us avoided the classic kebab by instead shopping at Tesco (?!)

I like the deep rapport stuff. Most guys (myself included) seem to end up talking about mundane day to day stuff which don't get the ladies fired up.

You out this weekend mate?
