While I don't agree that being modest isn't a good thing. I do think you did pretty well and this is a decent first FR. You were obviously nervous but you didn't go AFC. Though your not a PUA yet (most of us arn't) your getting there, you've taken your first steps.

Plus congrats on the earing, I did the same as you with my labret lip piercing. I decided on the train home I wanted it done and just went and got it, surprised everyone and its great for augmenting your image. Also a bit of sparkle/shine is good for attracting attention.
