The reason there are "Victorian Gender dynamics" in Twilight is because the writer is a Mormon. They have a very traditional view of the roles of men and women in terms of maternal/paternal roles.
I really do think that Twilight is just a blip, such as Harry Potter. Successful franchises that do not particularly reflect views of society.
