You are justifying destroying pride(ego) as something that gives you more confidence. Feeling the need to have more confidence is still an egotistical motivation. You can not destroy the ego by doing something driven by ego. Instead what you are doing is changing what you gain egotistical satisfaction from.

So, instead of gaining egotistical satisfaction from being validated by not getting rejected what you are doing is seeking to gain egotistical satisfaction from validating yourself, feeling good about yourself because you do not seek validation from getting a positive response. This however can be knocked down in other ways, it takes a huge amount of mental energy in order to stay true to this, if it is attacked repeatedly it chips down until people snap from frustration as their mental energy and ability to keep position wains.

I'm not saying don't seek to get this, it's a step in the right direction. What you need to look at is the overall goal though as there is something beyond self validation altogether - Transcension. The none-participation and indifference to any form of validation (societal or self) altogether. You do not need to validate yourself nor receive it from anyone around you. You can just be.

On another thread, using people as a means to boosting your confidence/destroying your ego is unethical. You are using people. People should not be means, they should be ends. Instead just have sincere interactions with others. Some interactions will go places and others won't, you don't need to use people to boost or destroy anything.
