it does cause plenty of water retention yes (i would know i have taken it), but steroids have that effect, if your relatively new to hard training like i believe phil is you dont need any kind of supplements really anyway, save that shit for when your gains have stalled. As a newbie you should make good progress quite quickly at least in the beginning.
