Except ... How are you judging want is "being an attractive man"? Surely we can only measure it in terms of how much people were attracted to them. Is it possible to drive a wedge between "being an attractive man" and actually being a man who actually was actually attractive to actual people? And, if attractiveness is the only measure surely the actually attractive person is more attractive than the theoretically attractive person.

Well, there is little or no evidence to suggest he was an attractive man in the way we are interested in here (I'll go into this a bit more when I reply to Max in a sec), and I don't think that therefore we need to grasp for other ways in which we should smother that conclusion by superimposing his brief political attractiveness on top. So there are not two opposing things present between which to drive that wedge.
