Fair enough, I can see what you mean. I think our definition of "basic social skills" is different, however.
I would see basic social skills as knowing when to say please and thank you, knowing what to say in certain circumstances, like not talking about irrelevant stuff at a funeral.
Or in a day game sense, being friendly and not bringing up inappropriate topics like sex etc.
But you are saying basic social skills are more than that, which I didn't realise.
