Well, I haven't been on the forums recently, things have been going well for me. Iv been seeing a girl I quite like and another couple are in the side that are nice to. But I keep hearing from my ex, when I do, or even when I see a picture of her on a friends networking pages it just triggers these strong negative feelings that really make me feel like shit, makes me feel like I was last year when I was begging her to take me back. Just the worst feeling you can imagine. I don't want this interfering with my life but its impossible to stop these little episodes from occurring

Do any of you guys have some advice for me, I don't want my past fucking up my present situation?

I still get the odd nagging thought and memory, just remember the good times forget the bad times and take it all as a life lesson to work out what you really want in the future, as it obviously can't have been her if she causes bad emotions inside of you.

Cheesey but times a healer, you just need to learn to understand she isn't part of your identity therefore unaffecting in your present, merely a past.

Yeah, it just takes time. I got totally messed up by a girl last year, and despite how ruined I was then, i'm over it now.

On a side note, I actively removed all her friends from my social networking sites so there's much less chance of seeing what she's doing.

I always keep one thing in mind though. I've had four 'serious' relationships (over two years), and each time the breakup has been worse, but conversely as I realise more and more what I go for, each relationship has been better. I know with abject certainty, that no matter how messed up I may have been about my ex, something even more awesome is waiting around the corner.

I was with my ex for 10 years- i loved her more than anything/still do but it wasnt right and i basically cracked up and totally fell apart, that was 2 years ago now and im only just on the way out of it all now.

As annoying a phrase it is, it is totally true-- Time heals all wounds, it will take time for you to get over whats happened, as time goes by things will hurt less, hopefully you have learned some lessons and rationalized whats happened.
History is history-- when i get hit by a negative wave of emotion when somthing drags it back up-- i tell myself out loud ' its history, there is nothing you can do to change things you have learned from it and move on'

block her, its hard mate but was the only thing thats worked for me, its definatly a case of out of sight out of mind.
are you still friends? that makes blocking harder.
i had this situation and actually explained that i felt uncomfortable seeing her posts. added abit of nostalga (your posts remind me of the good times we have.....etc) and that they reminded me of what i had lost.
have managed to maintan quite a good friendship with her after blocking her.

Just call your ex up, tell her that you've changed, that now you are another person, that you learned from your mistakes and beg her if she would please, please, please, please never ever take you back again because you now know what a terrible mistake it was. then have a laught.

That should fix it.
