Sexual selection and evolution -

I haven't posted anything in a while maily because I can't get on at work anymore so i'm going to post a biggie, I haven't fully explored this so i'll probably add more at a later date.
I'm hung over so sorry if there is any mistakes Another thing if you don't believe in evolution go away and study it. Done that? Still don't believe, go away then this isn't for you, I don't want this to become a debate on whether it's true or not. Intro Right then i'll start with something you are all familiar with 'peacocking' this is a stripped down version of sexual selection which is not natural selection as some might think. To simplify it sexual selection is basically females judging a mates fitness by some sort of ornament like a peacocks tail. This shows how healthy the male is by the condition, size and colour. Also it's of no survival benifit it's the opposite it hampers the peacock which also goes to show the male must be fit to survive with a hinderance. Well what ornamentations do we have? wearing nice clothes might be one aspect but it's not a major one many of us have been out dressed like shit and still got women. It's that thing between your head, this idea is still in the early stages but recent evidence is showing it to be true. The genes required for skin colour are about 8 out around of 80,000 genes where as to produce a brain the figures are a lot higher around half of all your genes. That's a lot, the most of all your organs and a quarter to a fifth of the energy and oxygen consumed by a human is for your brain. So it's an excellent way of demonstating fitness if something is wrong with you it's going to show because of your brain also if you are better than the rest it'll show too with intelligence. from the wiki slightly edited for clarity Quote:
The thing with David Beckham is he is intelligent in his own way not in a cognitive way but in a physical way (the way he moves, passes the ball etc) and in a visual way (seeing people in space, judging where the ball will go). On a side note there is evidence that emotions might have something to play in physical intelligence, dopamine is related to it. I heard this on the little atoms podcast which is fucking ace! Little Atoms Or it might have been Science weekly I can't remember. So what can you do? Go out there and show how intelligent you are with humour, language, wit etc to show women how fit (in an evolutionary sense) your brain is!
