The Flu Thread -

As with everything else on this forum, this thread is designed for us to provide each other with moral support.
It is here for those who are in turmoil to bleed their feelings, and for those who have shared their pain to sympathise, and to tell them the worst will soon be over, just with a little more patience and persistence. I am talking about flu. I'm being 100% serious: I have had a cold for a month. For 30 whole days, since early December, I have had to blow my nose several times every hour. I accept I am nasally challenged, but that doesn't explain the sheer amount of fluid which I deposit every time I reach for a tissue. In mid-December, one Sunday morning, things got worse. I woke up, and found I could hardly move. That night, I couldn't sleep for sweating. I took the next week off work, up to Christmas eve, and spent much of it lying on the sofa, unable to function in any adequate way. Since then I have improved. But, even now, tonight, I sit here pilled up to the max on decongestant. I am stunned and shocked at the level and severity of flu this year. I know it happens every year. But I've never known it to be quite as bad as it is this year. To all who are suffering with me: I am sneezing with you. To all who have been fortunate: I bid you the best of luck from here. ive had it... nasty shit, and all of easyjet have had it... we have actaully been cancelling flights due to having no spare crews on standbys.... theres been so many off sick we havnt even been able to man the phones for the crew to ring in sick, theres no one to answer to the phones as they are sick too..
ironically too, last week with the iphone alarm problem... we cancelled 6 flights as we didnt have any crew for it as they all had iphones and the alarms didnt go off...

Thanks for suffering. What a martyr ! This thread reminded me to get a flu jab, as I have done in other years.
A mere three hours after having read this thread, I had got a flu jab -- via appointment -- at Boots for thirteen quid.

apparantly the swine flu is REALLY bad, an is gonna be over the next few weeks, its not being made public how bad it is but NHS Staff have been given warnings

I've fucking got it. I've had a more or less constant shitty cold (not a really bad one, but bad enough to be fairly noticable) for about 3 weeks now and yesterday it went into meltdown. Fuck knows how I managed to haul my ass to work yesterday and today, but I'm having a day off tomorrow. My fever's getting worse by the hour, my cough is bordering on a chest infection, my nose is red raw from sneezing/wiping/blowing and to cap it all off, Leeds are on the telly, so anyone wanting to buy a suit off me can get fucked.
