Default New Years Resolutions - 14-12-2013, 05:53 PM

What's everyone's new years resolutions? I've got a few tinkering around in my head but will make more solid ones that can be applied with focus. Rather than having 14 of them and not doing any in the end.

Know Thyself.

Have fun.

I gave the same ones pinned up on my cuboard door I made in 2010 and they havn't changed much, probably because I've never done any of them so they'll probably be the same for the 4th year in a row....:

1. Go running/exercise 2-3 times a week
2. Have a regular sleep routine
3. Stop smoking
4. Get a new job - Done that one last week
5. Self development geared towards women - Made some very small progress last 4 months
6. Put more hours into playing poker - Will probably drop this as I don't have the time to play anymore...and its not something that would really benefit my life

doing 1 will help 2. I had a problem with insomnia before doing the gym regularly and that sorted it out. Number 3 is a big one for me too. you said you never did them but you've done 4 so give yourself credit for that and 5 (but look to stepping it up more, make a plan of action). Time is precious but if you enjoy 6 you could keep doing it but limit the time on it.

I usually have one, and this year it's no foul language

I disagree with the concept of new years resolutions, if you're going to commit something then you should do it straight off the bat, without the need to put some time requirement on it. By putting something off you're already making a compromise by not committing to it and making it less likely you're actually going to succeed.

Mine are:

Use equipment and editing facilities in my uni constantly to make the most of my last year; experimenting and messing around.

Treat uni work like a job so I get shit done.

Close, close, close with girls. Out daily/nightly. Like all I do is focus on isolating/escalating/closing, not even "Opening", opening is closing.

Start the gym again. Get back into powerlifting. Beat my 180Kg record by the end of the year.

Meditate and read daily.

Keep finance and diet in check: don't spend and eat like shit.

Somehow actually turn these goals into a realistic attainment. . . (not great at doing that).

------------------------------------------------

My goal this year was to party, eat like shit and go out loads and finally start approaching girls and sorting this shit out. And more media/uni focused. The former was accomplished and the latter was dabbled in. . .

Like the past two nights where I actually thought "okay Ill number close", all the ones I #closed have texted back and arranging to meet with me, one girl who i gave my number to texted me today and wants to meet. BUT numbers are gay, I have to develop that closing attitude that I have done with mingling in the club.

And Top Hat, are you my Granny? GRAMMY IS THAT YOU? No foul language! Come on man, be a bit more enterprising than that; build a house, develop a website, hit the gym, learn a language, self teach yourself how to lock pick, learn a martial art or canoeing.

Know Thyself.

Have fun.

I used to think that a little but I did my first ever new years resolution last year and it worked out great. Our calender is set out in a way that makes it quite an easy time to begin such a thing.

Yeah I'm not knocking anybody who's managed to stick to it, I'm just saying the success rate is higher if you commit to it straight away. Although to be honest, you're going to have the discipline for it or you're not, it's more to do with character I guess.

Yeah, but smoking isn't going to help much with one but I get they are all related. Stopping smoking is something I'll probably focus on first. I always try to do too many things art once so I want to just try pick 2 of them and stick with that.

Definitly dropping poker - I used to be pretty damn good & around 2008-2010 I was killing it. I've not played in so long & I'll be miles behind everyone else, its really time consuming if your committed & that time can be used for something else.
