Default Starting from scratch - 30-01-2010, 03:35 PM

Hi guys! I'm thinking its time for a change from my traditional lack of ability talking to women, and am liking the looks of this forum!

So, about a year ago I moved to a new area (for new job) and pretty quickly got into a long relationship and fell into the trap of letting what little social life I had established fade away. So after the relationship ended a few months ago I was stuck with a virtually non-existent social life and a lot of time on my hands.

In my 25 years I've always been kind of bad talking with women I don't know well, mostly due to nervousness and not knowing what to say - but every now and again I'll have days and nights out where these problems seem to go away and I manage to confidently chat to girls, so I know I'm capable of it. I'd like to consistently achieve this state of mind, so then the game can commence!

Right now my conversational void is probably caused by the fact I'm not doing much outside work. I certainly need to get out, lead a more interesting life and socialise more - but that is hard as I don't have any non-work friends in my new area, and the work-friends aren't really going out much.

Anyone got any advice for pretty much starting from scratch in a new area? Or just any general advice for starting out with the game? My goal is to be gaming confidently either solo or with others pretty soon.

welcome mate, the best advice you'l get is simply go out. try all the new bars and chat with people, tell them your new to the town and ask where the best places to go are.

or magic or wishful thinking. Human beings must act in order to achieve
our lives and happiness, but only certain actions will be effective. Unlike
lower animals, we choose our actions

Welcome my advice is meet up with the manchester people on here and you seem to have already sussed that you need other things in your life to give you different experiences also it means when you do plan to meet up with a girl you won't have to pretend your time is prescious because it will already be.

heyup.

i am new to the whole thing too. and am an 'I.T. guy' as well.

i'd suggest making sure that you have other hobbies and social activities on the go as well. you don't want to sum up your life as: work, game. if you take up some hobbies life is more fun and you meet more people and become a spiritually richer and more interesting person.

sitting at home watching box dvd sets doesn't count!*

cheers,

yep you're right there - am doing quite a bit of climbing / outdoor stuff, bit of guitar, other bits and bobs. hobbies are fine, its just the social/going out aspects that need to happen more frequently!
