Hi all, I'm 24 and from Surrey.
Recently became single and went out for a night out in Bristol, a hundred odd miles away from my hometown.
The sorts of questions I used to open conversations were completely genuine:
Where's good to go out here?
When does this place close? etc.
... and the response was like nothing I've experienced before - incredible.
However, I tend to go out in my hometown. I know damn well where is good to go out, what time this place closes and where we should go next. I guess I don't feel comfortable (or at least confident) making up an elaborate story for an excuse to talk to a girl.
Do you guys have any natural sounding openers like the above that tend to work?
Could try:
- "What are you guys celebrating this evening?"
- Making observations about drink/surroundings/patrons
... but to me they all sound a bit... forced compared to the genuine tourist I was last week! Any ideas?
