I'm from near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne . I've been reading the forum this afternoon with much interest .

I'm 34 now unfortunately and opportunities to meet women have been in decline for some time. I spent most of my mid to late 20s at university, when most of my friends were settling down and I only had a few transient relationships and encounters. I wasn't doing too bad until then but I suppose we all change with our age and priorities.

Now I'm having difficulty dragging anyone out of their house to go out with me because they have their own things to see to. An evening out seems to require Antarctic expedition levels of preparation for these people.

I've been reading a few threads here this afternoon which remind me of my current mindset and predicament and I realise that I have to do something to change. I need to improve my game, I believe is the terminology .

I foolishly tried POF but like the many blogs dedicated to just how bad it is I found the same, women with unrealistic expectations and damaged women. I had little luck, a few short conversations with women I wouldn't show to my mates and some conversations from older, larger ladies that they initiated. To summarise, POF does absolutely nothing for your confidence!

Nice intro post man. I'm 45 and some of my friend's kids are now having kids. As you can imagine getting them to go out of an evening is even harder (impossible actually) when they become babysitting grandparents (unless I arrange to go out with their 20 something kids while they're in babysitting)!

I've not tried online dating but have tried online singles chat rooms, speed dating and blind dates set up by matchmaking friends....all a waste of time I found. And I also found these put a big dent in my self confidence and self esteem. I won't be trying them again.

I think realising you need to change is a very important step as it prepares you to make a decision to commit resources and take steps for the change which is challenging. It's a positive thing.

There's no rules except the ones we've made for ourselves. If any of those are unhelpful they need to be ditched now so we can get unstuck and progress.

Nice offers of wingmen there bud, not many wingmen around Newcastle so I suggest to at least have a beer and discuss aims/objectives/goals etc... A wingman that knows you is a better wingman.

Online anyone can be fake. They can have a photo taken by a shit camera to make you think that it is a genuine person, never assume.
I must admit, I'm doing quite well online but I'm online mainly friendship based on a site that has grew in size and popularity over the 6 years I've been on it to the point where it's been taken to the next level.
Online is all about the profile and how you convey yourself.
