Default Remembering what to say....? - 09-09-2009, 12:31 AM

Hey,

I have read a few books and watched the usual "Keys to the VIP" and "The pickup artist" and even though I have watched them, I feel none the wiser how to approach strangers. When you go out, do you have a set 'script' on what yours going to say? Or do you just see what comes outta your mouth?

cheers Tom

This is the 3 schools of thought surrounding pick up, more Mystery method type stuff (set scripts and opener), natural stuff (concentrating on inner you and not thinking just being) and NLP (using word patterns to put a woman in a certain state, which I find a bit creepy)

My preference is natural but you can mix and match to a certain degree.

If you want to get better at just saying whatever you need to come to improv my friend! Then you won't need to think about what you are saying you will just get in a good happy fun zone.
You asked me what improv's all about in a text but I thought I might as well go into it here as there is only so much you can say in a text.

Improv's a night that Kowalski set up where we play comedy improv games to get you thinking from the top of your head.
It's a right laugh and it helps a lot with saying the first thing that comes into your head.
Also a side note if a girl asks you where you met one of the guys on a night out tell them at improv then you sound like an awesome fun guy (because you are)

Examples of some of the games....

I love you but I just can't smile

Someone sits in a seat and everyone tries to make them laugh or smile the person in the chair can only say "I love you but I just can't smile" (although we are a bit lenient on this). If they laugh or smile they change with the person who made them laugh or smile.

Change!

2 people act out a scene and people shout out change then they have to change what they are saying. For example "i like cheese" CHANGE! "I hate cheese" CHANGE! "I hate your mother"
The change is used to try and get you to say something completely random and non related then run with it and adapt the scene.

It'll make you better with the ladies as you can think on your feet, think who's line is it anyway but dirtier.

"Is it wrong for a man to love his guitar?"

"It is if he puts his balls between the strings, and strums himself to ecstasy!"

I would say the main thing that has helped me since I started reading up on pick up to give me confidence in interactions is being able to relax around other people, and not be constantly trying to impress people to boost your own ego! once I realised that this is where i was going terribly wrong, and began to work on it, I was able to express myself better and show my personality with more assertiveness.
By the way i reccommend all the RSD stuff, it's absolute gold!

It's only technique in its conjunction with meaningfulness that you get a work of art

You want to check out the blueprint, but if you come to improv we could maybe sort something out, nudge nudge wink wink
