Post clicking "like" on facebook- Supplication? - 30-10-2011, 06:09 PM

A lot of people in close circles of friends, and distant circles are asking me to like their pages on facebook lately... it's become a bit of a trend. So I thought I'd get some opinions on it.

I have a friend who is extremely well connected in the local music scene. He has an UG (ugly girl) friend who is an aspring singer, who frequently enters reality TV shows similar to Xfactor etc (the italian equiv). I also know two HBs in similar predicaments, one in rome, italy and one in madrid, spain.

I also met an HB7-8 through this guy recently (not a target). She's an aspiring model. She is a little bit chubby and has a rather flabby legs and bum, but facially she's a good 9 or a near 10. She is rather deluded however and she seems a bit arrogant. I know it's wrong to say this here, but I really hate girls who are about a 7 who think they are a 9/10. I find them intolerable. I have never targeted her anyway as I know her boyfriend. This is the only girl of the 4 in this post that I am NOT friends with on facebook.

So, in response to all these people asking me to click "like" on their official pages, this is what I've done. I want to know what you all think, and what you would've done in this predicament please.

1. My buddy asked me to click "like"on this UG's singer official page, which I did with no problem at all. My pleasure.

2. The Italian HB aspiring singer created an "official page" also. I liked that page. She then sent me a message about a week later asking me how to say something in English (I'm her former english teacher). In my opinion I mildly supplicated here, but in any event I helped her with a simple translation and continued to talk to her for a short time. A few days later, she messaged me asking me to vote for her by phone, for something that I didn't know anything about (some reality tv bullshit). She gave me a phone number to call/ text and a code if I were to SMS. I did not respond to that message and obviously did not vote. A lot of these vote numbers are expensive and to be honest, I felt at this point she was figuratively taking me in the ass.

3. The Spanish HB (not connected with anyone in italy i know) asked me to vote for her on a band entry official page, which I did (fine). But then (sigh) She then asked me to vote for her "every hour". I responded that I'd vote for her again when I got to work, if I remember.

4. The aspiring model is not my friend on facebook. I received a message on facebook from a mutual friend asking to click like on this girl's official modelling page on facebook. I did not respond. In my opinion she should've asked me herself. Even if she'd've sent me a private message I would've sent a friend request out of courtesy. I am willing to help my friends. I know it's only facebook but she's made no attempt to even befriend me, so why should I? I also feel that she sees herself as better than almost all guys she talks to anyway, so I don't want to join her kiss my ass club.

I know this is post is not, strictly speaking about actually picking up (feel free to move it if you feel necessary moderators), but it IS about keeping a strong frame, and not beig a "nice guy", not being LJBFed... but then again, as I'm sure you can all appreciate, I don't want to come off as a complete prick either. So what's the ideal balance? Do you agree with how I did it? Has anyone else had a lot of these kids of requests lately? it seems to be common at the moment.

So boys, I want your opinion. Would you have done this as I would? if not, what would you have done differently (specify girl/girls 1-4)? and why?

I feel I was courteous without being a sucker, but give me some feedback please gents

I wouldn't tolerate a girl who talks down to me no matter how attractive she is. Like Phil has said, if you think she is better than you, you will always supplicate to her

Essentially either sack facebook in because thinking about it this much really is quite crazy

or like something because you like it or believe in that issue/cause/subject or dont like it because you dont care/think it's horseshit.

Just be you, but a stronger more assertive you.

agreed.... I never supplicated to her and I haven't tolerated her. I think she knows that she isn't getting me that way

I haven't become too much of an FB junkie just yet.

None the less you're probably right. I know the question is analytical, but it was just a passing thought I wanted another opinion on. That's all.

Seriously man...if you've spent this much time thinking about this you have too much time on your hands!

Agree with the general opinion here. You seem like a humble sincere dude, and you seem sound man but this is HARDCORE OVERTHINKING. If you like something on facebook then like it. That simple. I think I mentioned this to you before. Overthinking. Micro managing irrelevant minutia that you have no control over. You will get so much further by not giving a fuck. By trying to manipulate interactions you are just going to shoot yourself in the foot. Instead of worrying about stuff like this, focus on bringing the fun careless side of your personality out and the little shit will fall into place.

Are these the words of a man with a strong frame??? Many guys on here write messages like this and they think the solutions to thier problems lie in what other people think they should do.......... do what you think you should do, taking your own advice is the best advice you will ever get!!! Are you man????
