Hi everyone,

I am recently single and new to all of this and need some help with a texting a girl I met at the weekend.

There were a few of us out at the weekend just having a laugh and getting drunk. We were out having a smoke and mucking about and started chatting to a group of people on the balcony. One of which was a quite cute girl.

We were just about to leave and were saying goodbye when the girl asked if i was single and if i would be interested in going for a date sometime and wanted my number, which i gave her. she then rang my phone to check that i had given her the right number but i didn't save the number as was late for a train and needed to run off.

Unfortunately half way up the road, i had realised that i had forgot her name, lol!! After all i had, had quite a bit to drink!

I still have her number and was thinking of texting her but am unsure whether i should do as can't remember her name and what to actually write because of this.
Or should i wait in the hope that she will text me?

Firstly, welcome to the forums mate.

Secondly things are nowhere near as bad as you think! For a start you got the girl's number and she seems really interested in you so you're already halfway there. I'd just text her something playful and fun (have a look under the list of text messages for some openers - there's some good ones in there, used to great effect), and take it from there.

Oh and as for the name thing, you'd be surprised how little you actually need to call someone by name. I know it's not great advice but I'd just wing it until either you remember or you hear her being called by her name or something.

If in the meantime, she cottons on to the fact you've forgotten her name, don't be apologetic, just be like "well to be fair, I was drunk and I figured I'd work it out sooner or later". She'll respect you for being honest and unapologetic.

when you txt her be playful and use light banter as Blanca said. The key to get her name is always end your txt with your name and hopefully she'll do the same thats the best advice i've got at this moment

I had this a few weeks back and couldnt remember this girl so I just said "are you in facebook" and she texted back saying "yeah and its [her name] add me if you want" but I never did add her altho I got her full name lol....good luck!!

I've had a look through the list of all the different text messages and was wandering which ones would be the best to use as an opener. Most of them appear to be as if you have been texting for a few days.
I only say that as have never really tried the being cheeky routines and am worried it might back fire.

What were you saying to her on the night, was there something going on that you can mention or was there a joke/funny situation you can talk about.
If you mention something like this she'll remember what a good time you had, don't worry about it she opened you so you already know she's into you so she is bound to text back if she is after a date.

I text her mentioning the funny situation as per Toms advice and then used the "are you on facebook" line which got us chatting a bit.
Unfortunately from facebook i then realised that I develop the worst beer goggles in the world when i'm drunk and have to kick my mates in for allowing me to give her my number, lol!!
On the upside it was a pretty good weekend and had number closed a hb the night before and am meeting up with her on saturday and am pretty sure my eye sight was working correctly then!!
