I have to admit, nearly everyone I know has cheated at least once. I say nearly. There are exceptions

Anonymous survey, this is an interesting argument but is generally unfounded. In anonymous surveying for studies a margin of error of 5% has been found to be accurate even with questions that are controversial and would damage someone socially should they admit to them. That's not a huge difference, I understand the argument though.

I should point out that the term cheat in this case means to sleep with another person, not to do the various other things that most people also constitute as cheating.

Interestingly the figure is around 5% higher when only looking at the married couples. People that get married are more likely to cheat? Not by much more, but it's an interesting statistic.

I say 22%, that's from the most recent I could find, looking at studies on the whole it looks like it ranges from around 14% to 35%. 22% still sits in the middle though. I'm more inclined to say that the average of all tests is probably closest to the correct figure however I generally always look at the most recent studies as figures like this can change very rapidly, if there had been studies 50 years ago I'd bet the figures would be much lower.

Damn, I got statistically fucked :P

I think if you took the survey for people aged 14 - 24 the figure would probably be like in the 90s

I agree. I think the cut off at 18 years old changes the statistic drastically. Those early experiences drastically colour people's future interactions and decisions on whether to do it or not.

That said I think kids are generally retards and cringe at the shit they did looking back on themselves. Mistakes are made and it's part of the learning process of becoming who we are. I'd like to find a study that focuses on this age group but unfortunately I can't, that may be because I'm not quite sure what kind of wording to use for it in a google scholar search though. Child infidelity isn't doing it.

Google scholar is great but sometimes it can be a right pain if you don't know exactly what kind of terminology the sciencey people would use to describe the study.

Nope, can't find a thing. It's not helped by the fact that anything to do with sex and young people is diluted by a massive amount of research into teen sex in relation to sexual health and diseases.

think thats how Gary Glitter started, researching statistics on teen sex in google
