He's been aware of the community for years, and I know he knows Strauss, to what extent he was already doing certain things naturally before then, or how closely he's studied it, is not clear. I have my suspicions.

These interview vids are f-ing hilarious. I like the 1st one interviewing clothes designers where he says "ur probably too hot because these clothes you;v made are badly designed!"

Russell Brand quotes The Game and 'negs' in his new autobiography as well.

I don't think he has always been naturally good with women. In his first Booky Wook (I'm a big fan of Brand, but I fucking hate this book title!), he comes across like he used to be quite shy/awkward. Also he used to be a bit of a porker. Thailand and hookers seemed to bring him out of his shell somewhat and then he went onwards and upwards from there! Fame obviously helped a lot too!
(book may just be written this way to appeal to chodey guys though)

As for Mystery v.s Brand - I can't see Mystery banging Kate Moss after a couple of card tricks! Brand is charismatic, funny and engaging. Mystery just pretends to be.

I'd like to go to thailand and fuck hookers, there'd be something quite detached about it. Maybe I should buy brand's book. Him and Matt Morgan do some quality viddylogs for bbc2 radio. Morgan regularly mocks him for being an attention whore.

Strauss has never written about any connections with Russel Brand, neither have any of his colleagues. If there were truly and kind of training or the like that had occurred then there is no way Strauss and his company would pass up the opportunity to use it as a constant selling point. There would be reports upon reports in the case of direct teachings. Strauss likely would have written an entire book regarding it.

If Russel Brand had approached them himself to give testimonial I'm pretty sure he'd have jumped on the chance for cross promotion himself which there is none of.

Upon a little extra research to ensure I haven't missed something major over the years, I found this little gem in a Sunday Times interview with Strauss:

Quote:
Indeed, when Strauss had dinner with Brand and Courtney Love in London, he found that Brand, without having read his book, was employing many of the tactics found in The Game.

“He does just fine,” says Strauss. “The lifestyle he embodies - that is attractive to women. I don’t think his over-the-top femininity is a ruse to attract women, but he does exaggerate parts of his personality and that makes him interesting. And because most guys won’t do that, it just leaves more women for Russell Brand.
I think that's pretty conclusive evidence from Strauss himself that he had nothing to do with Brand's success with women.

EDIT: I decided to go a bit further with this and did a check into Russel's books. Strauss is mentioned twice in Booky Wook 2 as follows:

Quote:
WHAT THE FUCKING HELL DO YOU SAY TO HER THAT SHE HASN’T HEARD UMPTEEN TIMES?

RUSSELL You’re pretty.
KATE Yes, it’s been mentioned.

You could try something from the bible for wantawayonanists,
The Game by Neil Strauss, but “negging” – the practice of saying something mildly negative to your “target”– seems disrespectful, and if you “ignore her”, the void you leave will be filled in an instant by a dozen willing suitors.

First reference.. Isn't astoundingly positive, it is a name check though.

The second reference is simply in relation to the meeting in London with Courtney(what the Times article also references).

When I got back to London I was invited to dinner withcharm-monger Neil Strauss, writer of The Dirt – the Mötley Crüe book – and The Game. A further advantage of success is getting invited out to dinner by famous strangers. I was intrigued to meet Neil because The Game is the Koran (let’s take a risk, I mentioned the Bible a page ago) of womanisers everywhere. This guide Neil penned on how to hoodwink girls into sex left me with mixed feelings – it’s very well written but is it right? That is the problem with the wholewomanising culture – it gets sleazier with every hour that youage and starts becoming a bit soulless. Oh, sure, it’s a big, stiff hoot when you’re gadding about like Bruce Wayne, butyou can never forget that on the horizon, bleaching his hair and popping a Viagra, awaits Peter Stringfellow. But thesewere not considerations for this swish night in Claridge’s – alovely posh restaurant that you can only relax in if you are theQueen or Claridge himself – God knows what he’s like.Tonight I was concerned with seeing Neil’s “game”, andmore importantly, comparing it to mine. Neil broughtCourtney Love with him – who is a mad enchantress, arasping white witch, barmy and opinionated and lion-hearted. More interesting than her lion-heart, though, is her vagina, which has been referred to as magic, in that it has a mythicalpower to bestow stardom and heavenly gifts ’pon those whoenter – a kind of Blarney-fanny. Lord alone knows many afamous man has emerged from its confines – some of whomsurely must’ve been famous on the way in. Neil told me Ididn’t need The Game as I was a natural – the best he’d seen, which utterly charmed me, making him the winner of the “game contest” before we’d even had soup. Which was abloody good job because it was one of those posh soupswhere you get a bowl with some croutons and bits in it and the actual soup comes in a jug on its own.
Russell's quote on Rules of The Game is: "Neil's Strauss's writing turned me from a desperate wallflower into a wallflower that can talk women into sex"

Testimony debunked enough yet? I'll admit it's possible that Russell could have given that for free, I feel it's highly unlikely though as business is business and Russell isn't the one getting anything out of writing a testimonial.

Ive known some massive attention whores in my life, they can be ace to go out with and be around somtimes - they can take a crap atmosphere and pump it up.
But what they are all about is sucking energy from everyone and sooner or later it gets tiresome.
They tend to be pretty insecure deep down and once you find that driving force are easily manipulated (if thats your thing) personally i tend to avoid them because im not interested in playing into their drama of sucking the life out of everyone.

day to day as a friend they talk about themselves constantly and couldnt really give a shit about you - it doesnt take long to realise you dont need people like that in your life.
